The Role

Overview

Foot Locker, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer in the Customer & Loyalty vertical of our Core Services team, who will jump right into hands-on development. The Core Services team is responsible for serving up critical on-demand data from disparate systems to all corners of the enterprise, across numerous verticals and channels. The Customer & Loyalty engineer is responsible for solving complex challenges that ultimately serve our most valuable stakeholder - our customer. The ideal candidate is passionate about solving complex business problems by delivering simple, robust, and maintainable solutions using continuous integration and continuous delivery practices while demonstrating a passionate, customer-first ethos.

Responsibilities

  • Develop applications and data processes that meet scalability, high availability, disaster recovery and security requirements for mission critical applications
  • Implement engineering standards and solutions to support applications and APIs that support the growing business needs
  • Identify and analyze technical debt in current systems and processes to identify risks and inefficiencies and propose solutions to mitigate those risks
  • Mentor and guide less tenured staff; perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback
  • Extend existing proprietary systems, stand up and maintain third-party platforms, develop custom systems and applications, build integrations to applications/systems (both internal and external), and interface data stores and databases
  • Collaborate with other engineers/architects to iteratively develop, validate, and operate software at scale using agile techniques
  • Verify components at the unit and integration level using proven validation techniques
  • Prioritize quality and performance; proactive approach to eliminating bottlenecks, redundancies, and other inefficiencies
  • Create and maintain software documentation
  • Contribute to the design and architecture of software solutions

Qualifications

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Strong Java foundational knowledge and experience in developing distributed systems
  • Exceptional proficiency in problem-solving and critical thinking
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Principled approach to security best practices
  • Deep understanding of service-oriented architecture, specifically microservices architecture, and REST API concepts
  • Experience with containerization/orchestration technologies tools like Kubernetes
  • Working experience with database and messaging/streaming technologies including Mongo, Kafka
  • Experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery using modern DevOps tools
  • High-energy, self-motivated, results-oriented with a "get it done" attitude. Capable of working effectively in a team setting without handholding
  • Ability to handle changes in direction and work priorities with ease; is positive and level-headed under pressure; adaptable.
  • Demonstrated passion for quality and innovation with a customer-first attitude.
  • Experience in Java, Spring
  • Experience in .NET development
  • Experience with Identity Access Management platforms and functions
  • Experience with Azure serverless, Kubernetes, RESTful APIs, Microservice architecture, Jenkins, Git,

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, or closely related field.

Benefits

The annual base salary range is $90,000 -$135,000. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive short term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Salary is one component of the Foot Locker, Inc. total compensation package, which includes the below.
