Stanley Black & Decker seeks a Sr. Industrial Designer to join our Suzhou team, contributing to the innovation and execution of world-class products for our global brands, including Stanley, DEWALT, CRAFTSMAN®, and more. You will play a key role in the end-to-end design process, from user research and concept ideation to final surfacing and digital prototyping, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the industrial design and concept development of new products, delivering compelling proposals, hand sketches, high-fidelity renderings, and 3D models.
  • Conduct user research, market analysis, and trend forecasting to inform design direction and ensure alignment with brand strategy and user needs.
  • Translate insights into innovative, manufacturable solutions that balance aesthetics, ergonomics, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Present and communicate design concepts clearly to internal stakeholders and external partners, incorporating feedback efficiently. Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and marketing teams to resolve design challenges and ensure seamless transition from concept to production.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time delivery and adherence to quality standards. Contribute to the continuous improvement of design workflows, tools, and best practices within the department.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial design or related field (985/211 universities preferred).
  • 5–8 years of professional experience in industrial design, with a strong portfolio demonstrating successful product launches (experience in power tools, outdoor tools, or small appliances preferred).
  • Advanced proficiency in 3D modeling and surfacing software (e.g., Rhino, KeyShot, CATIA, Pro-E).
  • Expert-level skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Strong understanding of design principles, color theory, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proven ability to independently manage resources and deliver high-quality design solutions within project timelines.
  • Excellent sketching and rapid visualization skills to communicate design intent effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience in user-centered design, integrating customer feedback into product development.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; able to work effectively in multidisciplinary, multicultural teams.
  • High level of initiative, accountability, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
