Position Overview This is not a "business as usual" role. We are looking for a seasoned leader to reorganize, recalibrate, and elevate our Enterprise Testing team. You will ensure that our frameworks are not just functional, but "rock solid" with zero brittleness. You will lead the operationalization of next-generation vendor platforms (LambdaTest, PactFlow, Tonic.ai) and drive the adoption of ZeroTrust principles in partnership with the SRE team. ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership & Team Transformation
- Revitalize & Reorganize: Assess the current state of the 10+ member SDET team and execute a strategic reorganization to optimize talent, improve velocity, and elevate performance standards.
- Roadmap Definition: Create and execute yearly testing strategies and multi-year technology roadmaps that align with Ford Credit’s broader digital transformation goals.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary liaison between engineering and stakeholders, translating complex technical testing challenges into clear business value propositions for non-technical executives.
- Talent Elevation: Mentor and recalibrate the team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and passion for the craft of software testing.
Technical Excellence & Framework Architecture
- Zero-Brittleness Frameworks: Solidify existing testing frameworks by mandating and enforcing architectural standards that ensure tests are robust, reliable, and flaky-free.
- Full-Stack Leadership: Lead the strategy for UI, API, and Contract testing frameworks, ensuring deep coverage across the application stack.
- Tech Stack Mastery: Provide technical guidance on Java and GCP (Google Cloud Platform) to ensure automated solutions utilize the full potential of cloud-native architecture.
- FinTech Innovation: Stay ahead of industry trends (e.g., AI-driven testing, self-healing scripts) to maintain Ford Credit’s leadership in financial technology quality.
Vendor Operationalization & Platform Scaling
- Platform Onboarding: Lead the full operationalization of critical vendor platforms, including LambdaTest (scalable parallel execution), PactFlow (API contract verification), and Tonic.ai (synthetic data generation).
- Scale & Security: Define team organization within these platforms, actively managing Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and Single Sign-On (SSO).
- ZeroTrust Integration: Lead the relationship with the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and DevOps teams to onboard all testing platforms into strict ZeroTrust environments, ensuring seamless, secure operations and networking.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related technical field (Required).
Leadership & Strategy (Must Have)
- 12+ years of experience in Software Development and Quality Engineering, with significant experience in a management/leadership role.
- Proven Change Agent: Demonstrated history of turning around underperforming teams or elevating good teams to world-class status.
- Executive Communication: Exceptional ability to break down business goals into technical counterparts and present solutions to executives.
- Strategic Planning: Proven ability to create, present, and execute multi-year technology roadmaps.
Technical Expertise (Must Have)
- Core Engineering: Strong background in Java development and object-oriented design patterns.
- Cloud Native: Deep understanding of GCP (Google Cloud Platform) and cloud-based testing infrastructure.
- Modern Frameworks: Expert-level knowledge of UI automation (Selenium/Playwright), API automation (RestAssured), and Contract Testing methodologies.
- Security First: Knowledge of ZeroTrust architecture and experience integrating testing tools into secure, regulated environments.
Operational & Tooling (Must Have)
- Experience operationalizing enterprise-scale tools, specifically with deep knowledge of:
- LambdaTest (or similar cloud grids like BrowserStack/SauceLabs) for massive parallelization.
- PactFlow for managing consumer-driven contracts in a microservices architecture.
- Tonic.ai (or similar tools) for generating synthetic test data to protect PII.
- Experience collaborating with SRE/DevOps teams to implement RBAC, SSO, and secure networking for testing tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the FinTech or Banking sector, with a strong understanding of the nuances of regulatory compliance (PII, PCI-DSS) in testing.
- Experience managing and mentoring global teams across different time zones.
