The RoleAspenTech Digital grid Management (DGM) Energy Management system (EMS) provides transmission utilities worldwide with a safe, reliable means to monitor and operate the grid. As a Sr. Power Systems Engineer, you will be involved in all aspects of the successful delivery of systems to our customers. You will be highly engaged with our customers, leading efforts to design, build, configure, troubleshoot, and test the deployment of our systems. This position provides you with exposure to EMS Applications such as Power Flow, Contingency Analysis, State Estimator, Optimal Power Flow, Reserve Monitoring, and Stability Analysis. In this role, you will be a primary point of contact with our customers throughout and after the project's lifecycle and will have the opportunity to work across functional teams, including Software Development, Product Management, and Business Development teams.

Your Impact
  • Collaborate with customers and engineering teams to understand requirements and project plans for AspenTech DGM's EMS portfolio.
  • Design, integrate, test, and commission advanced control systems for electric utilities, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Communicate detailed requirements to internal stakeholders and contribute to the creation of comprehensive project and product documentation.
  • Conduct thorough unit testing and tuning to ensure power system applications meet or exceed customer and industry standards.
  • Install and configure energy management system applications, including Power Flow, State Estimator, Contingency Analysis, and Optimal Power Flow, for seamless integration into customer environments.
  • Partner with AspenTech Digital grid Management (DGM) development teams to troubleshoot, prioritize, and evaluate product enhancements and changes.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to empower customers in effectively utilizing and maintaining their power system applications.
  • Provide expert consultation on power system modeling, ensuring customers maximize the value and capabilities of their systems.
  • Deliver prompt and effective technical support to troubleshoot and resolve issues on live customer systems, utilizing your in-depth knowledge of power systems and application functionalities.
  • Meticulously configure and integrate software components to meet contract specifications, followed by comprehensive testing with customers.
  • Empower customers through hands-on training, equipping them with the skills to confidently operate their newly implemented systems.

What You'll Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is required.
  • Experience in Advanced Power Systems Applications including State Estimator, Contingency Analysis, Study Power Flow, Model management, Optimal Power Flow, Stability Analysis, Forecasting, Operator Training Simulator and may have knowledge of other fields.
  • 5+ years of power systems, project engineering, or related technical project implementation experience required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 20%, both domestically and internationally.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Superior problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree with a focus on Power Systems.
  • The ability to utilize scripting languages (e.g., Python, C) for automation and problem-solving.
The salary range for this role is $104,400.00 - $130,500.00. This range represents what we in good faith believe is the range possible for base compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on several factors. This range may be modified in the future. This role is also eligible for bonus or variable incentive pay. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, charitable giveback day, medical/dental/vision insurance, and retirement benefits to eligible employees.
