Job Description

This position will follow our hybrid work model; we expect the selected candidate to work 3 days a week at our corporate offices in Saint Pete, FL.

The Sr. Employee Relations Consultant, operating under limited supervision, serves as a subject‑matter expert responsible for strengthening employee relations capability, enabling management effectiveness, and supporting a positive and compliant workplace culture. This role consults on performance issues and workplace conduct, provides guidance on policy interpretation, and partners closely with the Employment Law Group on high‑risk matters. The ideal candidate is an experienced ER professional with a demonstrated ability to foster trust, collaboration, and sound decision‑making across all levels of the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads complex to highly complex employee relations cases for assigned lines of business, providing guidance on performance management, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, and workplace concern

  • Collaborate with the Employment Law Group to respond to legal claims, prepare documentation, and ensure deadlines are met.

  • Provide guidance on and enforce work rules policy and monitor consistent application across the organization.

  • Manage involuntary termination recommendations by reviewing documentation, drafting talking points for the business, working with Employment Legal Group to obtain appropriate approvals, and conducting notification meetings with leaders.

  • Identify and mitigate risk by ensuring consistent application of policies and adherence to employment laws.

  • Provide recommendations on appropriate corrective or disciplinary actions.

  • Analyze ER data from multiple sources to identify trends, root causes, and areas for proactive intervention.

  • Prepare reports and insights for HR leadership and business partners.

  • Monitor and track ER cases, ensuring accurate documentation and confidentiality.

  • Draft and update policies, procedures, and handbook content to ensure compliance with legal and organizational requirements.

  • Recommend improvements to policies, processes, and standards to enhance operational effectiveness.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

  • Provide guidance to leaders on performance management, progressive discipline, and documentation best practices.

  • Counsel leaders on how to address performance gaps, conduct issues, attendance or timekeeping concerns, and other workplace matters.

  • Build strong stakeholder relationships by understanding business needs and adapting guidance accordingly.

  • Serve as a mentor to other ER advisors, supporting skill development and consistency.

  • Execute proactive positive employee relations initiatives aligned with organizational values.

  • Support communication plans related to ER initiatives and policy changes.

  • Identify opportunities to elevate workplace culture, engagement, and fairness.

  • Monitor behaviors and performance trends to identify and address compliance or behavioral risks.

  • Prepare and deliver professional presentations to leadership and HR partners.

  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity in all interactions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Exceptional communication, strong coaching/mentoring capabilities, and relationship‑building skills.

  • Proven ability to manage sensitive, high‑risk situations with professionalism and empathy.

  • Advanced skill in problem solving, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

  • Commitment to confidentiality, ethical behavior, and organizational values.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business/Public Administration, or related field.

  • 7–10+ years of progressively responsible HR or employee relations experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of employment laws (e.g., EEOC, FLSA, ADA, FMLA).

  • Experience conducting investigations and resolving complex workplace issues.

  • Experience with Workday and Microsoft Office Suite preferred.

The total compensation for this position includes base salary or wages, and may include components such as additional compensation (cash or equity), discretionary bonuses, or commissions.
