Nextpower's Product Engineering organization is a global team of experts dedicated to helping customers achieve maximum performance from our solar tracker solutions. We develop high-quality software and hardware for various embedded devices that are the heart of solar plant operations.
We are actively seeking a dedicated and versatile Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our innovative team at Nextpower. In this crucial role, you will collaborate closely with software development, hardware development, and field support teams. We are looking for a highly effective individual, quick learner, and adaptable person with a proven track record in software development for standalone field devices. It is essential that you possess a strong ability to translate business and technical requirements into practical solutions.
Your responsibilities will include proposing and implementing effective control solutions within systems, processes, or reporting to establish an efficient control environment. As a Sr. Embedded Software Engineer, you will develop software for embedded devices, working closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, assess current software, and propose effective solutions. You will lead the code implementation process, ensuring adherence to best practices and optimizing performance throughout the project.
The ideal candidate will possess strong programming skills, proficiency C and microcontrollers. This role requires a deep understanding of hardware-software interaction and the ability to troubleshoot complex embedded systems effectively. The engineer should be comfortable working in agile environments, demonstrate strong debugging skills, and have experience using Jira for project tracking and management.
Key Job ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain firmware and embedded software that interfaces with advanced electronics controlling electro-mechanical systems.
Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in C, in bare metal and RTOS platform, and also embedded Linux.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features and products.
Debug and troubleshoot complex software and hardware interactions to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of Agile practices within the team.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in embedded software development using Agile methodologies. Strong debugging and problem-solving skills for both software and hardware-related issues.
Programming Skills: Proficiency in C, Git, Make, Low level debugging, JTAG.
Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers, RTOS and how software interacts with hardware components. Experience with microcontrollers, networking, Linux.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Languages: Fluency in English.
