Sr EHS Specialist

Job SummaryThe Sr. Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) Specialist works under the direction of the EH&S Manager in all Environmental, Health and Safety affairs at the Fresenius Kabi USA, LLC facility in Wilson, NC.
The Sr. EH&S Specialist provides expertise to EH&S activities at the above site consistent with the Fresenius Kabi USA, LLC Corporate Mission, Vision, Values, Company Objectives, EH&S Directives, Policies, Programs, Procedures and Standards including ISO 14001:2015 & OHSAS 18001:2007 Standards and Certifications where applicable. The Sr. EH&S Specialist ensures compliance with relevant Federal, State, and Local Laws, Rules, Regulations and Ordinances established to protect the health and safety of our employees and the environment and works to minimize the Company’s liability and exposure to environmental, health and safety risks.
The Sr. EH&S Specialist has a leading role in administering EHS regulatory requirements, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement and communicating that information to Line Management and the employee base. This position is an individual contributor at a Specialist level with no direct reports.
Salary Range: $73,614-$103,528 annually + 6% bonus
Final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to experience level, education, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Occupational Health & Safety of the Workforce
• Environmental Protection & Conservation of Natural Resources
• Industrial Hygiene activities
• Fire Protection / Fire & Life Safety
• Compliance with EH&S Standards and Regulations
• Compliance with ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 Standards (where applicable)
• Environmental Permitting, Reporting and Registrations
• Hazardous Materials / Waste Management & Transportation
• Bio-Hazardous Materials / Waste (OPIM, RMW) Management & Transportation
• Special Wastes (Hazardous Not-Regulated Pharmaceutical waste / Electronic waste / Universal waste)
• Assist with Workers’ Compensation Claim Management and interaction with insurance companies
• Interact with regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, EPA, DOT) at the State and Federal Level

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in EH&S or an equivalent program with 3-5 years industry experience.  A certification or designation in EHS is preferred but is not required.  Experience with Management Systems is a plus.
• A minimum of 3-5 years hands-on EH&S experience including, but not limited to, environmental permitting, chemical / laboratory safety programs, industrial hygiene monitoring, EH&S training, program development, risk assessments, incident investigations, etc.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.  Capable of communicating effectively to individuals and groups at all levels and presenting technical information succinctly and clearly.
• Demonstrated results-oriented approach, and operational hands-on skills.
• Ability to lead the development and implementation of procedures and programs and adjust quickly to a dynamic and  highly-technical environment comprised of people with varying levels of education and cultural backgrounds.
• IT based skills including word-processing, spreadsheet applications, database management and electronic communication methods.

Willingness to be on-call at any time when situations arises requiring EH&S support.
