We are seeking a candidate with a demonstrated ability to lead by influence, with a record of successfully delivering modern, large-scale, complex services and products. This is accomplished by leading multiple large, diverse technical teams at all levels and closely collaborating with program and product teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on technical leadership to multiple development teams, focusing on delivering scalable functional and non-functional features quickly.
- Promote a diverse culture of cross-functional collaboration and engineering excellence.
- Develop a strategic vision for AI implementation and understand its impact on business strategy and innovation.
- Mentor and develop AI talent within the organization.
- Serve as an idea leader, introducing industry best practices to benefit the team and the wider organization.
- Balance business capabilities with operational excellence, meeting regulatory, security, and privacy requirements.
- Quickly evaluate new ideas and technologies from internal and external sources.
- Lead multiple teams, aligning technology with business problems and fostering innovation and excellence.
- Partner with Visa Consulting & Analytics (VCA) to transform Visa University technology solutions, enabling configurable digital product portfolios for clients.
- Drive immediate, mid-term, and strategic long-term modernization plans.
- Demonstrate expertise in agile delivery, building purpose-driven teams, and managing complex integration projects.
- Oversee global engineering teams, guiding them in delivering for product partners and leading platform transformation in the dynamic payments space.
- Grow Visa University's external-learning solutions and seek new revenue by building scalable, modular, open solutions.
- Engage in complex initiatives requiring innovative integration patterns and emerging technologies.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee the overall development life cycle with significant bottom-line impact.
- Innovate and explore new technologies like Gen AI to positively impact Visa's LET and VAS applications.
- Design and develop APIs for value-generating integrations with Visa Consulting and Analytics clients.
- Deliver complex products by collaborating with cross-geographical development, product teams, and other departments.
- Partner with product owners to develop strategies and roadmaps aligned with business goals.
- Manage technical debt and costs within budget.
- Promote best engineering practices and automation in software development, testing, and deployment.
- Prioritize and deliver enhancements and maintenance for multiple services.
- Oversee incident, change, and problem management.
- Hire, retain, and grow high-performing, diverse global engineering teams.
- Invest in employee career development, emphasizing mentorship and training.
- Handle daily activities such as coordination, coaching, mentoring, recruiting, budgeting, planning, delivery, quality, partner relationships, performance metrics, operations, efficiency, and service level management.
- Advance our modernization roadmap to expand market reach and client base by adopting best-in-class technology solutions for our core platform.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
• 12+ years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, or at least 10 years of work experience with
an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD), or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with
a PhD.

15+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, or 12 years of experience with an Advanced
Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD), or a PhD with 9+ years of experience.
• Proven experience managing teams delivering enterprise-level, distributed applications using
technologies like Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, and languages such as Java, .Net, C#, and Golang.
• Outstanding verbal, written, presentation, facilitation, and interaction skills. Ability to present
complex ideas clearly and concisely.
• Proven track record of coordinating multiple product and technical teams, removing roadblocks,
and solving complex problems collaboratively.
• Experience delivering unified solutions comprising internally-developed applications and 3rd party
commercial offerings.
• Strong technical goal setting for projects with actionable success metrics.
• Experience measuring services from a user experience perspective, setting, and tracking SLAs and
KPIs.
• Ability to represent technical and business issues and solutions to multiple levels internally and
externally to support organizational plans.
• Ability to work within a complex organization to determine business and customer needs, providing
optimal solutions.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and software development lifecycle principles.
• Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience building microservices with HTTP, REST, JSON, and XML.
•Experience with GenAI and Machine Learning is a plus.
• Prior experience in payments and leading Innovation or Learning Management teams is a plus.
• Experience with streaming video technologies is a plus.
