The Sr. Director, Technology is a strategic leadership role responsible for developing and leading core technical functions across Product & Process Engineering, Research & Development (R&D), Quality Assurance, and Test Laboratories. This leader will drive innovation, operational excellence, and technical differentiation to support ATI Specialty Rolled Products’ growth in key strategic markets.
Partnering closely with Commercial, Operations, and Supply Chain teams, this role ensures that SRP’s technical capabilities and assets are fully leveraged to accelerate growth through improved flow times, cost optimization, and advanced product development. This role is on site in Natrona Heights, PA and reports to the President of Specialty Rolled Products.
Essential Functions
- Define and execute the overarching technical strategy aligned with business growth objectives.
- Lead Product & Process Engineering, R&D, Quality Assurance, and Test Labs into a cohesive, high-performing organization.
- Build a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with Commercial teams to enhance specification selling and customer engagement.
- Provide technical expertise to win new business and expand share in strategic markets.
- Translate customer needs into actionable development and engineering priorities
- Optimize utilization of technical assets and capabilities.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve throughput and responsiveness.
- Recruit, develop, and retain top technical talent.
- Build leadership bench strength across engineering, R&D, and quality functions.
- Foster a collaborative, performance-driven environment.

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or a related field
- 10+ years of progressive technical leadership experience in manufacturing, materials, or industrial environments.
- Proven leadership across multiple technical disciplines, including engineering, R&D, and quality.
- Experience in metals, specialty materials, or highly engineered products strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in the Metallurgy field.
