Job Description

The Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) Platforms team is building the next generation of scalable and responsible AI/ML infrastructure to empower products that address real-world client and consumer challenges. This role will collaborate cross-functionally with software engineers, data scientists, AI/ML engineers, data engineers, and program managers, focusing on migrating on-premises platforms to the cloud and driving adoption of tools that deliver measurable value across the payment ecosystem.

Visa’s AI/ML models and products are integral to the global economy, playing a critical role in preventing fraud within the payments landscape and delivering high value to clients and consumers. Our platforms enable hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue for Visa and safeguard billions of dollars in payment transactions.

Essential Functions

As a key member of the AI/ML Platform Product leadership team, this role is responsible for the strategy, design, development, and adoption of AI/ML platforms, including model training and experimentation platforms, real-time inference platforms, and GenAI platforms. This role leads cross-functional efforts to deliver scalable, cloud and on-premises solutions that empower teams across Visa.

Platform Strategy & Leadership

  • Drive the platform vision and roadmap, ensuring alignment with Visa’s broader data, AI/ML and business strategies.
  • Identify market trends, competitive dynamics, and clients need to inform platform direction and long-term planning.
  • Champion exceptional customer experiences powered by advanced AI capabilities and technologies.

Product Management & Execution

  • Lead cross-functional teams of product managers, data scientists, and engineers in a matrix organization. Translate customer needs into platform requirements and ensure successful delivery.
  • Own the product definition and implementation of the AI/ML stack across both on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Conceptualize, develop, and launch model-based solution and AI-powered products at the intersection of payments and technology.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, excellence, and accountability across the platform and product organizations.

Technical & Functional Delivery

  • Define detailed platform requirements, acceptance criteria, and success metrics (e.g., SLAs, operational targets).
  • Apply hands-on experience in designing cloud-native architectures and enterprise applications on platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Lead grooming sessions and facilitate collaboration across product, data science, and engineering teams.
  • Ensure platform capabilities support model risk management, onboarding, and compliance.
  • Oversee platform development, ensuring alignment with timelines, quality standards, and strategic goals.

Product Enablement & Innovation

  • Provide thought leadership in the Account-to-Account (A2A) product portfolio, guiding strategy and execution of model-based solutions.
  • Ideate, prototype, and build business cases for new AI/ML capabilities and use cases.
  • Continuously evolve platform capabilities to meet the changing needs of AI/ML practitioners and the broader ecosystem.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Liaise with business units, product leaders, and engineering teams to ensure alignment and flawless execution.
  • Communicate regularly with senior leadership and stakeholders to share progress, gather input, and drive consensus.
  • Represent product management in engagements with public cloud providers (e.g., AWS SageMaker, Google Vertex AI, Microsoft Azure ML) and internal Visa teams.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 12 or more years of work experience with a bachelor’s degree, or at least 10 years of work experience with an advanced degree (e.g., Master’s/MBA/JD/MD), or a minimum of 8 years of work experience with a PhD.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15 or more years of experience with a bachelor’s or advanced degree (e.g., Master’s, MBA, JD, MD, PhD).

Product Management Expertise

  • Minimum of 10 years in product management, with a strong track record of launching and managing product releases within matrixed organizations.
  • Experience working in highly technical and rapidly evolving AI/ML environments.

Hands-on Technical Expertise in AI/ML and Cloud

  • Deep understanding of AI and Machine Learning concepts, with emphasis on platforms and tools that enable AI/ML product development.
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML cloud stacks and large-scale enterprise systems.
  • Strong background in data science, deep learning models, cloud computing, and big data technologies.

Business Acumen & Industry Expertise

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to align AI/ML capabilities to strategic outcomes in financial services, payments, and card industries.
  • Proven experience applying machine learning and data science to solve real-world challenges in fraud detection, credit risk, and payment systems.
  • Demonstrated success in driving innovation and risk management through AI/ML-driven product development.

Software Development & Agile Methodologies

  • Proficiency in Agile development practices and experience working with Scrum teams in matrixed environments.
  • Familiarity with Agile tools such as Confluence, JIRA, and Tableau.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, SharePoint).

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 191,700 to 332,950 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
