About the Role:Responsible for leading and advancing enterprise portfolio strategy, optimization, analytics, and resource planning capabilities across Neurocrine's research and development portfolio. Serves as a strategic advisor to executive leadership, providing data-driven insights and recommendations that support portfolio prioritization, investment decisions, resource allocation, and long-range planning. Leads highly complex portfolio planning and analytics activities with significant organizational impact, risk, and complexity. Develops and implements portfolio optimization frameworks, forecasting models, scenario analyses, and decision-support capabilities that enable effective governance and maximize portfolio value. Partners closely with R&D, Finance, Program Management, Business Development, and Executive Leadership to drive strategic decision-making across discovery, development, and lifecycle programs. Serves as the enterprise subject matter expert for portfolio planning systems, portfolio analytics, and resource optimization methodologies while driving continuous improvement of portfolio management capabilities across the organization.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):
  • Leads development and execution of enterprise portfolio strategy, prioritization, and optimization frameworks aligned with corporate and R&D objectives

  • Owns and manages Neurocrine's multi-year compound flow model, including risk-adjusted and non-risk-adjusted portfolio scenarios across therapeutic areas and development stages

  • Develops and maintains transition probability models across development stages and modalities to support portfolio forecasting, investment planning, and strategic decision-making

  • Leads executive-level portfolio prioritization and trade-off discussions, translating complex portfolio data into actionable recommendations that support portfolio investment and resource allocation decisions

  • Evaluates portfolio opportunities, risks, development scenarios, and investment alternatives to maximize overall portfolio value

  • Designs and oversees quantitative models supporting portfolio forecasting, probability of success analyses, development timelines, resource planning, and investment decision-making

  • Develops scenario analyses evaluating the impact of adding, removing, accelerating, delaying, or restructuring portfolio programs

  • Analyzes pipeline progression, development productivity, attrition rates, cycle times, and key portfolio performance indicators to support strategic planning and governance discussions

  • Leads enterprise resource planning and capacity forecasting activities across functions, therapeutic areas, and development stages.

  • Partners with Finance, Program Management, and functional leaders to align portfolio objectives with organizational capacity, budgetary constraints, and long-range planning assumptions

  • Develops portfolio-level financial models supporting annual operating plans, investment prioritization, resource planning, and budget forecasting activities

  • Identifies resource constraints, operational risks, and strategic opportunities and develops recommendations to optimize portfolio execution

  • Serves as business owner and subject matter expert for portfolio planning systems, including Planisware and related portfolio management platforms

  • Establishes portfolio data standards, governance processes, and analytics best practices to support high-quality portfolio decision-making

  • Drives implementation and continuous improvement of portfolio analytics tools, systems, reporting capabilities, and governance processes

  • Leads benchmarking initiatives evaluating development timelines, costs, resource models, productivity metrics, and industry best practices

  • Leverages AI-enabled tools, external data sources, and advanced analytics methodologies to enhance portfolio insights, forecasting accuracy, and competitive benchmarking capabilities

  • Develops executive dashboards, portfolio reviews, governance materials, and Board-level presentations

Requirements:
  • BS/BA degree in Life Sciences, Business, Finance, Engineering, Data Analytics, Operations Research, or related discipline and 14+ years of relevant pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, consulting, portfolio management, strategy, or related industry experience OR

  • Master's degree in a related discipline and 12+ years of relevant experience OR

  • PhD, PharmD, MBA, or other advanced degree and 10+ years of relevant experience

  • Deep understanding of pharmaceutical drug development across discovery, preclinical, clinical, regulatory, and commercialization stages

  • Significant experience managing multi-year compound flow models and portfolio forecasting methodologies

  • Expert knowledge of portfolio strategy, portfolio management, resource planning, and investment decision-making frameworks

  • Extensive experience supporting portfolio governance processes and executive-level decision-making

  • Advanced experience with Planisware or comparable portfolio management and planning platforms

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $226,500.00-$309,000.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 35% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
