SUMMARY

The Senior Director, PMO provides strategic leadership and governance for the organization’s enterprise portfolio of initiatives, with a strong emphasis on IT‑enabled business capabilities and enterprise applications. This role ensures that projects—particularly those involving core business applications, platforms, and systems—are delivered using fit‑for‑purpose IT project methodologies and aligned to business strategy, architecture standards, and value realization goals. This is a Pittsburgh based hybrid role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Enterprise Portfolio & Strategy Alignment
- Own and manage the enterprise portfolio of business and IT initiatives, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy, application roadmaps, and technology standards
- Partner with IT and business leaders to prioritize investments
- Ensure portfolio decisions consider technical debt, application lifecycle, scalability, and business impact
- Provide executive‑level insight into portfolio health, delivery risk, and dependency
PMO Governance, IT Methodology & Standards
- Continuously evolve enterprise project and program management methodologies
- Ensure project delivery aligns with IT methodologies:
- Application development and release practices
- Infrastructure, cloud, and platform delivery models
- Vendor and system integrator delivery approaches
- IT governance, security, risk, and audit requirements
- Support and mature standards for:
- IT project intake and business case development
- Stage gates, delivery assurance, and production readiness
Delivery Excellence & Value Realization
- Partner with Application, Architecture, and Infrastructure leaders to ensure:
- Projects align with enterprise architecture and application roadmaps
- Dependencies across systems and platforms are proactively managed
- Delivery plans account for data, integration, testing, and deployment complexity
- Ensure benefits realization explicitly tie project delivery to business outcomes
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to technology complexity, vendor delivery, and organizational readiness
- Promote best practices in estimation, planning, release management, and delivery of solutions
Leadership & Organizational Enablement
- Lead and develop a PMO team of 10+ portfolio managers, program managers, and IT project managers.
- Build strong partnerships with IT and business stakeholders, translating business strategy into executable initiatives that deliver measurable outcomes
- Act as a trusted advisor to executives on project strategy, sequencing, and execution
- Evolve the PMO into a strategic IT delivery partner, not just a governance and execution function
Tools, Data & Reporting
- Own enterprise PPM and Agile tools supporting project delivery (e.g., OnePlan, JIRA).
- Ensure visibility to project and portfolio status, with transparency to key KPIs and SLAs
- Use data and metrics to continuously improve project delivery maturity and throughput.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience
- 12 years of experience in project, program, or portfolio management, including significant IT delivery leadership
- Proven experience leading initiatives involving enterprise business applications and complex IT systems
- Demonstrated success applying and scaling IT project methodologies across diverse delivery models
- Supply Chain experience is strongly preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of:
- Enterprise business applications and application lifecycles
- IT delivery methodologies (Agile, Hybrid, Waterfall)
- Systems integration, data dependencies, and release management
- Ability to bridge business objectives and technical execution
- Executive‑level communication, presentation, and decision‑support skills
- Excellent, proven leadership and team management skills
- Demonstrated strategic thinking capabilities.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- PMP, PgMP, SAFe SPC, Lean Portfolio Management, or equivalent IT delivery certifications
