Job Description:

The Physical AI Distinguished Solutions Architect is an executive-level individual contributor role within Lattice’s Architecture organization, with opportunity for management growth. This person will drive next generation product strategy for Lattice’s Physical AI solutions, translating complex customer challenges into compelling Lattice solution narratives. This person fills the architectural gap, understanding how FPGAs connect to GPUs and XPUs in physical AI systems, and how sensor aggregation and actuation control tie into that same architecture. Working in close partnership with the business development, sales, product and R&D teams, this architect will define and communicate Lattice’s value proposition in humanoids, cobots, AMRs, UAVs, medical robotics, and drones, across systems that integrate sensing, perception, control, safety, actuation, edge AI inference, and cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

  • Define and own the technical solution narrative and next generation for Lattice’s physical AI end markets, including humanoid robotics, cobots, AMRs, and UAV/drone platforms.
  • Translate customer and market challenges into actionable solution concepts that can be positioned commercially with physical AI system architects and robotics OEMs.
  • Lead technical discovery sessions, requirements analysis, and solution design workshops with humanoid, cobot, and drone companies to identify FPGA insertion opportunities.
  • In partnership with the business development team, drive design wins for humanoids and robotics, providing architecture-level technical depth and customer solutioning expertise.
  • Identify emerging technical trends in FPGA-to-GPU/XPU integration, embedded OS architecture, and sensor aggregation that create new FPGA insertion opportunities, communicate these to product planning and segment marketing teams, and translate customer workloads and system bottlenecks into requirements for future Lattice silicon, IP, firmware, and platform solutions.
  • Develop and present technical solution architectures showing how FPGAs bridge sensors, actuators, and real-time control systems to GPU and XPU compute platforms in physical AI systems.
  • Architect distributed, deterministic control for multi-node robotic systems spanning sensor processing, perception systems, motion control, safety, and AI inference, and advise customers on how workloads should be partitioned across accelerators, CPUs, MCUs, and FPGAs.
  • Develop architecture for Real-Time Control Systems including, whole-body control, balance control, motion planning, force control, actuator coordination, sensor fusion and define strategies for sub-millisecond latency control loops
  • Define functional safety and security architectures for human-safe operation, including secure boot, runtime trust, and fault detection, and guide customers on relevant standards such as IEC 61508, ISO 13849, and ISO 10218.
  • Lead the definition of targeted robotics demonstrators, subsystem reference platforms, and proof-of-concept implementations that show customers how Lattice solutions perform in real physical AI systems.
  • Build and develop relationships with system architects and embedded software teams at target physical AI companies, including Figure AI, Boston Dynamics, 1X, Apptronik, and Agility Robotics, to influence platform design decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D, embedded firmware specialists, and other internal technical teams to ensure comprehensive physical AI solution coverage.
  • Work cross-functionally with product planning, segment marketing, applications engineering, and sales to align physical AI solution strategy with product roadmap and customer requirements.
  • Represent Lattice as a technical spokesperson at key physical AI and robotics industry events, including NVIDIA GTC, CES, and relevant humanoid and robotics conferences.
  • Build and maintain relationships with GPU/XPU and embedded OS ecosystem partners, including NVIDIA, Green Hills, Wind River, and QNX, to develop joint physical AI solution architectures and reference designs.
  • Leverage Lattice’s recent acquisition of AMI to connect firmware expertise to physical AI and industrial edge use cases, identifying new software-to-silicon bridge opportunities.
  • Monitor the evolution of physical AI architectures, including aerospace and defense-adjacent applications such as Anduril, Joby Aviation, Shield AI, and Skydio, and identify how these trends create new insertion opportunities for Lattice FPGAs over MCU-based alternatives.
  • Develop compelling technical narratives that articulate Lattice’s value proposition in physical AI to OEM architects, C-level executives, and ecosystem partners.
  • Grow Lattice’s revenue through direct contribution to pipeline growth, design wins, adoption of solution stacks and reference designs, and partner commitments.

Qualifications

The successful candidate should have 8+ years of relevant experience in FPGA, programmable logic, digital computing, embedded silicon software, or robotics and autonomous systems.

A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related technical field is required. A graduate degree in engineering, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
