The Role

Labcorp is seeking a Sr. Director, Executive Recruitment & HR Business Partner to join our team, preferably based in Raleigh/Durham or Burlington, North Carolina; remote candidates will also be considered.

Job Responsibilities

Executive Recruitment Leadership (Approx. 60%)

  • Lead enterprise executive recruitment for VP-level and above roles with clear KPIs for quality, timeliness, and candidate experience.
  • Build, lead, and develop an internal Executive Recruitment team; establish performance standards and dashboards.
  • Design and implement executive search strategies—sourcing methodologies, assessment criteria, and candidate engagement—using data-backed success metrics.
  • Manage relationships with external executive search partners; set and monitor SLAs and ROI.
  • Partner with Senior HRBPs and Executive Committee members to anticipate leadership needs and build proactive pipelines.
  • Ensure end-to-end excellence from intake through offer and onboarding, including rigorous assessment and reference processes.
  • Maintain market intelligence on executive talent, especially within life sciences and regulated industries.

HR Business Partner (Approx. 40%)

  • Serve as the strategic HR partner to senior leaders (VP and above) across Corporate Functions, aligning people strategy with business outcomes.
  • Lead organizational design initiatives (structure assessments, capability mapping, implementation) to align current and future-state needs.
  • Provide executive coaching to senior leaders, improving leadership effectiveness, team dynamics, and readiness for expanded-scope roles.
  • Lead enterprise talent processes—succession planning, talent reviews, and leadership assessments—tracking measurable pipeline health and internal mobility.
  • Partner with senior leaders on workforce planning, organizational effectiveness initiatives, and culture evolution.
  • Diagnose organizational challenges using data-driven insights; develop targeted HR strategies and change interventions.
  • Collaborate with COEs (Total Rewards, TA, Learning, etc.) to deploy integrated talent solutions.
  • Provide expert consulting on complex executive HR matters, including performance, leadership transitions, and organizational shifts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Organizational Development, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including
    • 3 or more years as an HR Business Partner supporting VP-level or above leaders.
    • 5 or more years of hands-on Talent Acquisition or Executive Recruiting experience including leading/executing VP-level searches.
  • 5 or more years of demonstrated ability to deliver measurable hiring outcomes.
  • 5 or more years' experience supporting organizations of 1,000+ employees or multiple business units/geographies.
  • 3 or more years' experience facilitating annual talent/succession planning cycles for VP-level populations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in HR, Business, Organizational Development, or related discipline.
  • 1 or more years' proven ability to manage multiple (3–6+) concurrent executive searches while meeting quality and timeliness metrics.
  • 1 or more years' experience negotiating executive compensation packages.
  • 1 or more years' experience managing HR or TA budgets or managing executive search spend.
  • 1 or more years of experience in life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Formal certification or training in leadership coaching (e.g., ICF, Hogan, Korn Ferry).

Additional Job Standards

  • Proven experience leading organizational design, talent management, succession planning, leadership coaching and talent strategies.
  • Experience managing or leading executive or senior-level recruitment processes and/or teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to Influence and partner with senior leaders (VP’s and above) in a complex, matrixed environment.
  • Experience leading global HRBP and/or Talent Acquisition teams.
  • Ability to build enterprise-wide executive recruitment solutions and strategies, including assessment approaches and candidate experience standards.
  • Experience negotiating executive offers and compensation packages commensurate with VP-level roles and partnering with Total Rewards/Compensation for governance.
  • Familiarity with leadership assessment tools, succession frameworks, and high‑potential talent methodologies.
  • Experience working directly with corporate leadership teams with proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.
  • Experience leading organizational change or effectiveness initiatives affecting 500+ employees and/or global functions.

  • Judgment, Integrity & Confidentiality: Demonstrates exceptional judgment, discretion, and integrity when navigating sensitive executive and organizational matters.
  • Communication & Presence: Communicates with clarity and impact; adapts style to engage and influence senior stakeholders.

Job Summary

The Senior Director, HR Business Partner & Executive Recruitment is a senior HR leader responsible for driving enterprise people strategy while leading Labcorp’s executive recruitment capability. The role partners with VP-level and above leaders to shape organizational effectiveness, leadership capability, and succession strength across Corporate Functions. In parallel, the leader owns the enterprise executive recruitment strategy, ensuring the organization attracts, assesses, and hires exceptional executive talent aligned with business priorities. This position requires strong executive presence, sound judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in complex, highly regulated environments.

Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan. Employees who are regularly scheduled to work a 7 on/7 off schedule are eligible to receive all the foregoing benefits except PTO or FTO. Pay Range: $180,000 - $220,000/annually with bonus and equity

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data. 

The position is also eligible for an annual bonus under the Labcorp Bonus Plan.  Bonuses are payable based on corporate and/or business segment performance and are subject to individual performance modifiers.
