Step into a role where strategic leadership meets innovation, driving the future of CAPEX and MRO procurement. As a pivotal member of both the Procurement and Engineering Leadership Teams, this position is at the forefront of aligning capital project investments with operational excellence and sustainability!

Core Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and lead the global CAPEX & MRO procurement strategy, aligned with enterprise, engineering, procurement and operational goals.
  • Partner with the Engineering Leadership Team to influence capital planning, technology selection, and project execution strategies.
  • Embed procurement early in the front-end engineering and design process to shape specifications, drive value engineering, and identify innovation opportunities (with suppliers and supply markets).

Supplier Innovation & Front-End Procurement

  • Proactively engage at the concept and design stages to leverage emerging technologies, materials, and process innovations before specifications are finalized.
  • Drive a supplier diversification with focus on low cost country sourcing manufacturing platforms.
  • Develop regional or local sourcing strategies and support arrangements for manufacturing facility infrastructure.
  • Build and sustain a network of strategic, innovation-focused suppliers that contribute to the company’s competitive advantage.
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations to co-develop solutions that improve performance, sustainability, and lifecycle cost.
  • Facilitate early supplier involvement (ESI) workshops and technology scouting initiatives to bring external innovation into internal design decisions.

Category & Supplier Management

  • Lead sourcing and contracting for global CAPEX projects, plant expansions, and critical equipment.
  • Oversee MRO category management to optimize spend, reduce downtime, and standardize parts and suppliers.
  • Establish and maintain strategic supplier partnerships to ensure performance, innovation, and resilience across the supply base.
  • Drive total cost of ownership (TCO) improvements through commercial excellence, process efficiency, and lifecycle management.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators across cost, schedule, quality, and supplier performance.
  • Leverage data analytics and digital procurement tools to enable real-time visibility and decision-making.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a global team of procurement professionals with deep category and technical expertise.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Build capability for a future-ready CAPEX & MRO organisation grounded in curiosity, courage, and collaboration, bringing our LEGO® Values to life through care, creativity, and continuous learning.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Legal to ensure seamless integration and execution of procurement strategies.
  • Develop and embed procurement discipline and systems across engineering teams, thus enabling procurement teams to focus on high value activities and supply base development.

The Senior Director, Procurement Leader – CAPEX & MRO is a strategic and operational responsible for developing and executing the global procurement strategy for Capital Expenditures (CAPEX) and Maintenance, Repair & Operations (MRO) categories. Reporting directly to the Chief Procurement Officer (CPO), this role is a key member of both the Procurement Leadership Team and the Engineering Leadership Team, ensuring full alignment between capital project investments, asset lifecycle management, innovation-driven operational excellence and sustainability.

This leader will drive value creation, supplier innovation, and early supplier engagement to shape solutions, ensuring procurement acts as a strategic enabler in the front end of engineering and capital project development.

The Senior Director, CAPEX & MRO reports to the SVP, Chief Procurement Officer, and is a full member of the Procurement Leadership Team. As a member of the Procurement Leadership Team, they play a critical part in the overall procurement transformation journey.

Do you have what it takes

  • 15+ years of successful track record as a global senior leader with a strong engineering background and commercial acumen within a global matrix organisation.
  • Extensive expertise operating at a strategic level, whilst delivering value and cost savings through continuous improvement, cultivating innovation and sustainability.
  • Strong command of front-end procurement and engineering collaboration, enabling early influence on investment decisions, design optimization, and end-to-end lifecycle value creation.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing equipment development and design processes and ways of working to enable effective collaboration with technical and operational leaders.
  • Direct experience of leading end to end procurement, contracting and commercial management processes within complex capital projects.
  • Established relationships across the supply base of machinery and manufacturing site infrastructure, with strong process understanding on market technology scanning and early supplier engagement in Engineering R&D activities.
  • Proven success leading and inspiring large, diverse, and multicultural teams, with strong followership.
  • Compelling communicator with strategic clarity with the ability to influence senior stakeholders around a shared purpose.
  • Advanced capability in complex contracting and negotiations, including knowledge of IP, data protection regulations.
  • Exceptional ability to collaborate and influence at the most senior levels across a global set up, as a trusted business partner.
  • A track record of driving supply base diversification with direct link to value creation, including low cost country sourcing.
  • Expertise in strategic supplier relationship management.
  • It would be highly beneficial to have an Engineering degree
