The Role

Product & Business Development Strategy
The Strategy & Business Operations group is a Center of Excellence function within the Product & Business Development organization and is mandated to (1) define and articulate P&BD's strategic vision, narrative, and priorities, (2) identify market opportunities and develop and drive business plans to meet growth and performance objectives, (3) oversee strategic inforce product management (4) define and implement strategic planning and business governance processes and routines, (5) provide business management and enablement support across P&BD, (6) partner with enterprise Risk & Controls to identify, monitor, and mitigate operational risks within P&BD, and (7) provide internal communications support to P&BD's leadership and their teams.

The leader in this role will report to the Head of Strategy and Business Operations and lead P&BD's overall strategy development approach and processes in close partnership with the senior leaders across the organization.
Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develop strategies related to new product/market opportunities, go-to-market, operating model topics, partnerships, and external trends/opportunities.
  • Be a combination of coach and individual contributor on team. Develop team members and enhance their skills and capabilities through thought leadership, project work, and one-to-one coaching.
  • Lead strategy development process including framing current state of the business, structuring and driving strategic analysis/sizing of external & internal opportunities and identifying and developing solution recommendations to meet growth and performance objectives.
  • Contextualize P&BD’s strategy in the broader TIAA environment, working with stakeholders across the enterprise, and align P&BD’s strategy with the company’s vision and objectives.
  • Articulate P&BD’s strategy in a clear and compelling strategic narrative to key stakeholders incl. tailoring messages for key executive audiences.
  • Support development of P&BD’s business plan, comprising in-year efforts and long-term initiatives, to operationalize the department’s strategy and priorities.
  • Identify changes in market conditions, industry trends, regulatory environment, and macro-economic factors which may require changes to P&BD’s strategy and business plan.
  • Leverage scenario planning, case studies, and modeling capabilities to strengthen strategy and business plan.
  • Own and oversee creation of senior management materials (inclusive of Board, EC presentations).
  • Support P&BD leaders and their teams in an Internal Consulting capacity on a range of business topics not limited to new products/markets, go-to-market, partnerships, and operating model topics.

Educational Requirements

  • University (Degree) Preferred

Base Pay Range: $183,400/yr. - $356,000/yr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.  In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
