Johnson & Johnson is currently seeking a Senior Director, Business Development - Electrophysiology to join our MedTech located in Irvine, CA.
The Senior Director of Business Development, Electrophysiology will collaborate with the Electrophysiology Leadership Team (LT) to develop and prioritize inorganic (M&A and/or minority investments) innovation and growth strategies that align with our organizational goals. This individual will partner with key leaders across the Electrophysiology organization, including Global Marketing, R&D, Commercial Leadership, and J&J Development Corporation (JJDC) to define, refine, and implement these strategies. In addition, this leader will collaborate closely with other members of the Cardiovascular business development team on opportunities as appropriate.
This global leadership role requires a strong background in business development, strategy planning, business operations, financial acumen, and relationship management. This individual will provide inputs and recommendations into the Electrophysiology Deal Committee Process where M&A and Investment opportunities are reviewed and prioritized. In addition, this role will lead coordination of due diligence and transactional activities as appropriate. They will be responsible for managing key external relationships (Entrepreneurs, Investment Bankers, Investors) to enhance our coverage of all areas of strategic interest in the electrophysiology domain and near adjacencies. This individual will be a key member and thought partner to the Electrophysiology team to implement its inorganic growth strategies.
Additional responsibilities include:
Manage external relationships as a source of information, intelligence, insights for market and technology trends that are strategic to the Electrophysiology business
For therapeutic areas of interest, be knowledgeable of the landscape of companies in the space and lead communications with leadership of external companies on behalf of the company
Define screening criteria, value creation and rationale for targeting new opportunities.
Identify and evaluate critical assumptions, risks, and opportunities; provide preliminary modeling and valuation assessments
Have a clear point of view and provide recommendations to the Leadership Team on opportunities, prioritization, and tactics
Organize and lead due diligence teams, as needed
Source, value, negotiate, structure and close deals as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s level degree with 10 years of business experience or MBA or other advanced degree, with at least seven years of relevant business experience is required.
Strong business, negotiation, influence, interpersonal, financial, decision-making and leadership skills are required.
Successful track record of developing strategies and developing business cases for inorganic opportunities, including translating analysis into clear go/no-go recommendations.
The ability to effectively communicate and influence a broad variety of business leaders, both internally and externally and of varying levels, from functional personnel to senior leaders of companies is required
An ability to prioritize tasks, lead several projects simultaneously and be able to eliminate unproductive, low priority or low probability tasks and projects is required.
Experience in leading, valuing, structuring and negotiating complex transactions.
Experience in a customer/external facing role and/or cardiovascular industry is preferred.
Up to 25% domestic and international travel may be required
