POSITION SUMMARY:
The legal team at Nuveen provides advice and guidance in support of Nuveen's asset management activities. Nuveen is the asset management subsidiary of the TIAA organization, with over $1.4 trillion in assets under management. Through its business lines, Nuveen manages investments on a global scale across fixed income, equities, and alternatives, and is primarily responsible for asset management, product development, product management, and solutions for the TIAA organization. Nuveen also leads and supports strategic enterprise-wide projects within the TIAA organization.
The Nuveen legal team is looking to hire an attorney capable of providing legal advice and guidance to its asset management and investment management clients, including TIAA itself.

A broader-based debt finance background — including experience in project finance transactions and/or investment-grade private placements — would be a plus, as would expertise in restructurings, workouts, and bankruptcies.
The Senior Director, Associate General Counsel role assists in protecting the organization's rights, obligations, and privileges and its legal interests by providing legal direction to the organization and ensuring that legal activities meet its current and future needs. This role provides legal advice and counsel in business-related areas of expertise (e.g., corporate law, real estate, tax, business litigation, transactions/antitrust, compliance, intellectual property, employment/labor, corporate governance, ethics, etc.).
