Job Description:
About the Role:
The Senior Demand Planner is a highly experienced forecasting and planning professional responsible for developing, maintaining, and continuously improving base statistical or machine learning forecasts and consensus demand plans across assigned categories. This role serves as a subject matter expert for demand planning processes and systems, provides leadership in cross-category consolidation and enterprise analysis, and supports special projects and capability development.
The Senior Demand Planner partners closely with Sales, Category Management, Finance, Supply Planning, and Operations to communicate forecast drivers, assumptions, risks, and opportunities while advancing planning maturity, governance, and analytical capability across the organization.
You’ll add value to this role through the following, but not limited to:
- Develop, own, and continuously improve high-quality demand forecasts using historical sales, shipment, depletion, and consumption data.
- Analyze forecast accuracy, bias, value-add, volatility, and stability across categories; identify root causes and lead corrective actions.
- Improve forecasting models, assumptions, and processes to strengthen forecast quality and business confidence.
- Manage complex demand forecasting unit structures and lifecycle events, including new product introductions, phase-ins, and phase-outs, based on enterprise risk and value.
- Lead and influence Integrated Business Planning demand consensus discussions for assigned categories.
- Perform cross-category and portfolio-level consolidation to identify aggregate demand trends, trade-offs, risks, and opportunities.
- Provide forward-looking analysis and recommendations to support enterprise decision-making and scenario planning.
- Translate commercial strategies, promotions, market dynamics, and external data into quantified demand impacts.
- Conduct benchmarking and comparative analysis to improve forecast quality and planning effectiveness.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for demand planning processes, tools, and data, including enterprise planning and reporting systems.
- Partner with Planning COE, IT, and Analytics teams to support enhancements, adoption, process documentation, and governance.
- Support onboarding and training of Demand Planners through hands-on coaching, mentoring, playbooks, and knowledge-sharing forums.
- Lead special projects and transformation initiatives related to forecasting methods, process redesign, analytics enhancements, and planning capability.
- Represent Demand Planning in cross-functional initiatives and ensure planning implications are addressed.
- Influence senior stakeholders through clear communication of drivers, constraints, trade-offs, and data-driven demand planning recommendations.
Important Details:
- This is a full-time hybrid role based in Oak Brook, Illinois.
- The anticipated compensation for this position ranges from $97,500.00 - $146,300.00 USD annually. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics and business or organizational needs. For certain roles, the successful candidate may be eligible for annual discretionary merit compensation award, bonus and equity pay.
You’ll fit right in if you have:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent experience, is required.
- 5–8+ years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, or supply chain analytics is required.
- Strong analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills are required.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional influence capabilities are required.
- Advanced proficiency in planning systems is required; experience with Blue Yonder, o9, or Kinaxis is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
- IBP / S&OP experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience in FMCG, food and beverage, or consumer products is preferred.
- Experience coaching, mentoring, or supporting capability development for planning teams is preferred.
