The Senior Storage Engineer is primarily responsible for the overall health and maintenance of storage technologies in our managed services customer's environments. Our Storage Engineers are a valued member of the Managed Services Infrastructure Practice – Storage and DPS team - responsible for Tier 3 incident management, service request management and change management infrastructure support for all Managed Services customers.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide enterprise-level operational support to Managed Services customers for incident, problem, and change management activities
- Plan and perform maintenance activities
- Assess customer environments for performance and design issues and propose resolutions
- Work across technical teams to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues
- Create and maintain detailed documentation
- Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for storage technologies
- Work with vendors to resolve storage issues
- Communicate with customers and internal team with transparency
- Participate in on-call rotation
- Completion of training and certification as assigned to further skills and knowledge
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent Information Systems or related field. Unique education, specialized experience, skills, knowledge, training, or certification may be substituted for education
- 10+ years of experience managing Isilon storage solutions including best practices
- Deep understanding of the Isilon OneFS operating system, including architecture and features with proven knowledge and experience with Access Zones, IP Pools, shares, SnapshotIQ and SyncIQ with failover experience
- Isilon capacity planning, data lifecycle management and storage tiering
- Isilon troubleshooting experience, including hardware, performance and filesystem permission issues
- 5+ years of experience with Dell Powermax, including storage provisioning, SnapVX, SRDF (failover experience), performance monitoring and troubleshooting
- 5+ years of experience with Dell Unity (Block, File), including storage provisioning, NAS Server/filesystem/share provisioning, Snapshots, block and file replication.
- 5+ years of NetApp experience with knowledge of NetApp hardware, software, and associated features (Snapshot, SnapVault, FlexClone, SnapMirror)
- Hands-on experience with disaster recovery configuration, recovery and failovers utilizing the following - NetApp SnapMirror and Snapshot, Powermax SRDF and SnapVX, Isilon SnapshotIQ and SyncIQ
- Proficiency in SAN/NAS protocols, including FC, iSCSI, NFS and SMB
- 5+ years of experience with administration of enterprise and departmental switching technologies, including Cisco and Brocade
- Proficient working from the GUI and CLI
- Knowledge of other storage technologies (Dell, Pure) is a plus
- Familiarity with automation and scripting (Powershell, Python) is a plus
- Knowledge of virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and their integration with storage systems.
- Managed Services or consulting experience is a plus
- Strong background with customer service
- High level problem-solving and communication skills
- Strong oral and written communications skills

The compensation range indicated in this posting reflects the On-Target Earnings (“OTE”) for this role, which includes a base salary and any applicable target bonus amount. This OTE range may vary based on the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
