The Database Engineer in this role will perform high level database engineering and management tasks. This includes leading, data design, data structure identification, database schema definition, data access privilege management, data query optimization, documentation, database instance upgrades, long-range requirements, operational guidelines, and data protection.
Primary Responsibilities:

Serve as the high side DB Engineer / Administrator for the API Services Team

Responsible for ongoing maintenance of existing DB (AWS RDS)

Identify performance bottlenecks in current DB and implement fixes (short term and long term)

Optimize all DB queries and updates within microservices and identify best solution for implementation (e.g., stored procedure)

Define a migration path from the current database to the “to be” database to optimize for workload encountered in production

Coordinate with Low side team(s) to develop changes in the low side development and test environments and package them to be deployed to the high side environments

Responsible for performing ETL development activities including, but not limited to, parser development and deployment; data flow management; implementing data lifecycle policies; troubleshooting data access issues; and developing data models.
Basic Qualifications:
-
Experience applying expert domain knowledge of database management systems and SQL optimization
-
Experience with Dynamo and SQL based DBs
-
5+ years’ experience with Postgres, Oracle, MySQL, or other commercial database management system

Extensive knowledge in writing and optimizing complex SQL statements and stored procedures
-
Extensive experience developing extract, load, and transfer software operations for data sets in an AWS environment utilizing NiFi flows.

Experience negotiating complex scenarios and challenges and devising courses of action to resolve situations with predictable outcomes.

Experience leading critical objectives where decision making is of utmost concern to the outcome.
**Candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree with 8-12 years of prior relevant experience or a Master’s with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience.
**Candidate must have an active TS/SCI w/Polygraph
**Candidate must be a US Citizen
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with AWS/C2S services including RDS

Demonstrated experience using Spring, Kafka, Elasticsearch, and NiFi.

Pay Range:Pay Range $101,400.00 - $183,300.00
