JOB OVERVIEW
Provide leadership to Database Engineers as part of the Data Management organization. Provides technical direction for the development, design and implementation of efficient, scalable, highly available database applications. Possesses advanced technical, organizational and communication skills to serve as a lead database architect. Recommend coding and design standards, research new product ideas, maintain roadmaps and recommend improvement areas that create high quality, high performance and maintainable products. Has technical knowledge across multiple business areas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Implement database architecture road map
- Establish and maintain database standards and technical guidelines based on quality, technology and industry standards
- Develop and mentor high performing resources
- Maintain vendor relationships for development tools and services
- Make recommendations for new development tools for Data Management area
- Develop high priority, high visibility projects and POCs for vendors, clients and internal systems
- Develop and lead training effort for database tools and initiatives
- Design, develop and implement complex database systems, programs and applications
- Code review of architecture and code of large / critical projects
- Attend scrums to help assist with inter-project code and architecture needs
- Work with IT, PMO and users to identify and develop system requirements taking into account desired results, hardware limitations and operating requirements
- Write, maintain and review functional and technical specifications
- Keeps abreast of evolving Database technologies and best practices and recommend improvements as appropriate.
- Participate on the design and implementation of redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets
- Escalation point and decision-maker for critical database application issues
- Perform advanced optimization of SQL code
- Work with security compliance team / auditors to remediate database audit issues
- Provide training on secure database practices

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in an information technology environment
- Minimum of 8+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience with T-SQL development.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience with tuning and optimizing database performance
- Working knowledge of ETL tools such as SSIS
- Working knowledge of business intelligence tools
- Working knowledge of database replication, mirroring, backups
JOB SPECIFICATIONS, PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work Environment: This position is in Georgia or Illinois and operates in a professional office environment.
Positions Type/Standard Schedule: This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday.
Travel: No Travel required for this position.
Physical Demands: Speak, hear, and see, and to use hand and fingers for computer keyboard and phone. Sit or stand for extended periods of time. Reach above head to pull paper attachments.
