Leidos Public Health and Human Services Operation is seeking a Senior Database Administrator, contingent upon contract award.
Candidate MUST:
Be local to the Washington DC Metro area and be able to work onsite; be a US Citizen or US Person (Green Card holder) with the ability to obtain a Public Trust level 5 Clearance.
- Experienced in automating and optimizing DBA tasks using AI/ML, RPA, etc.
- Lead the database administration support for all Systems, tools and technical solutions. These tasks include:
- Maintaining and enforcing standards, policies, and procedures (provided as GFI), across database schemas.
- Configuring, monitoring, and upgrading database-as-code and database continuous integration tools
- Performing Data Definition Language (DDL) and Data Manipulation Language (DML) change and test data management.
- Installing and upgrading databases
- Providing support for remediation of Critical and High database security vulnerabilities within 30-60 days of identification
- Providing database and system documentation to Data Center Contractors as needed in support of installations/upgrades of database or associated schema
- Providing recommendations for database performance improvements
- Creating, maintaining, and monitoring all Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) jobs and all database connections between the database and non databases (e.g., Oracle views provided to other Centers) as well as external DB connections
- Managing Data Architecture (DA) activities to include:
- Document, update and manage conceptual, logical, and physical data models
- Ensure all data models are appropriately documented and properly stored in the designated architectural repository(ies)
- Create, publish, and manage reports, diagrams, charts, and other artifacts as needed to convey Data Architecture findings and recommendations
- Create, manage, modify, and report on all data, metadata, entity relationships, models, connections, and artifacts across technical and business capabilities and information stored in the EA and DA repositories
- Provide guidance to Government staff and contractors on capabilities of the Data Architecture tool(s) and its correct usage
- Advise on and assist as needed in the creation, use and maintenance of API’s, services, micro-services incorporating industry best practices as they relate to Data Architecture
- Advise on architectural patterns for data acquisition / capture, storage, movement, security, and access controls incorporating industry best practices
- Participate and assist in data governance activities
- Work with Government staff and contractors to support the creation and maintenance of Current State and Target State Data Architectures in coordination and alignment with overall Enterprise Architecture development.
- Provide research and advice to implement a modern data architecture that provides the flexibility to support both regulatory and scientific review and analytics needs
- Provide ongoing guidance and research on the implementation of an overall simple, secure, elastic, flexible, and authoritative data architecture
- Develop and advise on data architecture and modeling standards
- Research and adapt new data architecture concepts, tools, technologies and methods into the architecture (e.g., DevOps Test Data Management, Data virtualization tools)
- Making data corrections in the database, when requested, to address situations where a business user selects an incorrect value, code or date.
- Making data changes, when requested, to address situations where a new value is needed to respond to a business or regulatory need.
Required Education and experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and 8+ years of secure agile software development experience of mission critical federal enterprise system using secure agile software development with DevSecOps (4 additional years of related experience considered in lieu of degree)
- 5+ years of experience leading for leading the database administration activities for enterprise software with more than 30 systems in a federal environment (Oracle, Databricks, SQL, etc)
- Experienced in automating and optimizing DBA tasks using AI/ML, RPA, etc.

Pay Range:Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00
The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
