OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE:
As a Senior Data Platform Engineer, your primary objective is strategically designing and implementing scalable data and analytics platforms. These platforms should support business intelligence, data warehouses, data lakehouse architecture, master data management, data domain 360 products, data integration, transformation, loading, data security and privacy, data lineage, and data migration standards through performance-optimized foundations. This architectural strategy should be executed centrally for the enterprise, ensuring high availability, resilience, scalable data platforms, and high data quality levels.
You will develop and deliver long-term strategic goals for data platform vision and design standards to benefit the EDA (Enterprise Data and Analytics) team, cross-functional BU/BF platform stakeholders, and data governance committee members.
As a Senior Data Platform Engineer, you will help maintain the overall data platform roadmap. Coordinate with other technical staff across all EDA pillars to advance data platform architectures, product design goals, development standards, and solution quality assurance policies and procedures.
As a critical contributor to the Data Platform Team, you will create architecture flexibility by identifying long-term opportunities and collaborating with various stakeholders at all levels of the organization. You will also research and make recommendations on data platform products, services, patterns, and standards to support tactical and strategic solutions to achieve long-term objectives.
An ideal candidate for this role should have expertise in understanding the components of a modern data platform. This includes proficiency in cloud data infrastructure, such as AWS or Azure, essential data platform services, and capabilities within the cloud ecosystem, such as data services, data transfer, access control, and catalog. Experience in platform hosting solutions and data products on technologies like Informatica Data Management Cloud (IDMC), Informatica Intelligent Cloud Service (IICS), Informatica Big Data Management Platforms (BDM), Orchestration tools (Tidal, Airflow), and Data lakehouse platforms like Databricks and Snowflake is preferred.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Through Platform Architecture & Engineering best practices and standards, the Data Platform Engineer will drive to elevate the BU/BF outcomes of data-driven insights globally.
The Data Platform Engineer will understand and improve complex federated Data Architecture, the underlying frameworks supporting the solutions, the technical building blocks of the platform services & technologies, and the cost efficiencies that can be gained by continuously evolving the overall Platform vision.
When needed, this role will collaborate with Enterprise Architecture and represent Data Platform Architecture Strategies to socialize adoption at scale and drive a consistent outcome by reusing Data Platform capabilities.
The role should demonstrate holistic thinking about Data Platform Engineering as it expands globally by keeping technology debt at acceptable levels. The role should also have a long-term view on designing ideal Platform Services that can consistently deliver value at high quality, the right speed, manageable complexity, and competing capabilities.
The role should demonstrate engineering ideas and frameworks to improve data platform services through efficient automation. The role must collaborate closely with the Data Management and Data Engineering teams to develop Data Platform Architectural blueprints that support scaling Domain-based Data Products.
EDUCATION AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science/Information technology or relevant work experience. Technology Certification in the appropriate field is highly desirable.


  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in Data Platform Architecture or Engineering solutions with a strong affinity towards Informatica, AWS, Orchestration, and Managed File transfer platforms and Databricks.


  • Experience working with DevOps model, Agile methodologies (Scrum, Lean Startup, XP), and cross-functional teams (Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Developers, Designers, Business Analysts).


  • Expertise in Big Data Platform Architecture and enterprise data capabilities.


  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills in deploying, leading, and implementing successful projects.


  • Strong experience in AWS Data Services (Redshift, ElasticSearch, S3, API Gateway, Lambda, AWS Transfer) and third-party tools such as Informatica, Collibra, Mulesoft, Databricks, PowerBI.

  • Customer Focus: Prioritizing the needs of internal and external stakeholders and ensuring that the platform meets their requirements and adds value.
