Visa Technology & Operations LLC, a Visa Inc. company, needs a Sr. Data Engineer (multiple openings) in Foster City, CA to:

• Architect, design, build, develop, test and/or implement software applications.
• Conduct business and technical analysis, code reviews, and unit testing.
• Implement and produce technical documentation of solutions for new development, system enhancements, and production support.
• Design, develop, and implement modifications to existing software, including the development of debugging routines.
• Perform regular check-ins to continuous integration of systems and/or software applications.
• Participate in cross-functional teams and work with architects, systems analysts, project managers, QA, and other developers to implement business requirements while applying the latest available tools and technology.
• Work under direct supervision to ensure on-time delivery of projects, production support plans, and knowledge transfer for long-term supportability of upgrades, enhancements, and deployments.
• Position reports to the Foster City, CA office and may allow for partial telecommuting.

Employer will accept a Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.

Position requires experience in the following skills:

• Data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming;
• Coding with Java, C/C++, C#, Python, or Scala;
• Building highly secure, fault-tolerant, and reliable distributed systems;
• Multi-threading, concurrency, caching, distributed messaging, and distributed data storage concepts;
• MySQL or SQL Server.

Travel Requirements: This position does not require travel.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $155,605.00 USD to $200,500.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
