We’re seeking a Sr. Cost Accountant to join our team. This role is responsible for analyzing, monitoring, and reporting manufacturing costs to support operational and financial decision-making. This role partners closely with operations, supply chain, engineering, and finance teams to ensure accurate product costing, inventory valuation, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. The Senior Cost Accountant plays a key role in identifying cost-saving opportunities, improving financial controls, and driving operational efficiency. 

 What you will be doing:  

  • Analyze standard costs, inventory transactions, and manufacturing variances to ensure accurate product costing and financial reporting. 

  • Perform month-end close activities, including cost allocations, inventory reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis. 

  • Prepare and maintain cost, inventory, margin, and profitability reports to support operational and strategic decision-making. 

  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes by providing cost analysis and manufacturing insights. 

  • Coordinate and support cycle counts, physical inventories, and audit requirements while ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting policies. 

  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities, process improvements, and efficiencies across manufacturing and supply chain operations. 

  • Review bills of materials (BOMs), labor routings, and overhead rates to maintain accurate standard costs. 

  • Partner with operations, supply chain, engineering, and finance teams to evaluate performance, improve cost visibility, and drive profitability initiatives. 

  • Assist with capital project analysis, inventory management initiatives, and other ad hoc financial analyses as needed. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:  

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 

  • 5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment. 

  • Strong knowledge of standard costing, inventory accounting, and variance analysis. 

  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills. 

  • CPA or CMA preferred. 

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy required.  

  • Effective communicator able to work across all levels of the organization. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of standard costing, inventory accounting, and variance analysis
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Advanced Excel skills / proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • CPA or CMA
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective written and verbal communication; ability to work across all levels of the organization
