The Engineer Senior – Systems & Controls is a highly motivated individual contributor who will provide design, development and integration support for safety-critical real-time control systems for unmanned ground vehicles. This individual will work in a collaborative environment with a cross-functional team to support prototype and production programs.
YOUR IMPACT:
- Under supervision, perform software development, hardware selection, investigations, and systems engineering tasks according to Oshkosh and industry standards and processes.
- Develop and peer review safety-critical controls software for unmanned and optionally manned ground vehicles based on requirements.
- Perform failure analyses using test data and recommend issue resolutions.
- Develop, analyze, and maintain system architecture models and requirements.
- Conduct software and integration testing in simulation and real-world environments.
- Support supplier and customer tests, to include off-site travel.
- Maintain configuration management of software source code and artifacts.
- Responsible for a project or part of a project of limited complexity. May be responsible for managing multiple projects.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations.
- Participate in cost studies, project time estimation, technical proposals, and feasibility studies.
- Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical subject matter.
- Process engineering information through CMMI level 3 procedures and software safety process.
- Establish priorities for work and coordinate tasks within large development programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Regular attendance is required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, software, computer, controls, etc.) or computer sciences with three (3) or more years of related experience.
- Experience in programming embedded controllers in C/C++, model based / Simulink, and/or PLC languages such as Structured Text.
- Travel up to 20% of the time.
- Experience with version control systems.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Able to obtain U.S. Secret security clearance.
STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with Systems Engineering processes and SysML (Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw).
- Experience with authoring and managing requirements, version control, release management, and peer review systems and processes.
- Familiarity with safety standards such as MIL-STD-882E, ISO 26262, IEC 61508, UL 4600.
- Experience in developing software for vehicle control systems, either on-road or off-highway.
- Experience in developing networked communications (CAN Bus, Ethernet, V2V).
- Familiarity with vehicle dynamics, mechanics, and electrical systems.
- Experience with Agile software development processes.
- Excellent software system design skills.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Pay Range:
$79,300.00 - $126,900.00The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
