About the Role

FTI Strategic Communications is currently looking for a Senior Consultant to join our People & Transformation practice. You will serve as a key member of our client-facing project teams, supporting the execution of communications and change management strategies during moments of transformation or transition. This can include mandates related to performance and process improvement, shift in strategy, transactions, restructuring, organizational effectiveness, DEI and the broader employee experience and engagement (among other topics).communication strategies for restructurings, merger integrations, carve-outs, and other transaction-related assignments. Programs generally emphasize internal stakeholders but also may comprise strategies targeted to media, investors, customers, suppliers and other third parties.   Candidates preferably have a working knowledge of Chapter 11 restructuring and/or M&A transactions as well as strong writing and presentation skills and a team player mentality.

A successful Senior Consultant is confident in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, where situations may shift quickly and require an immediate response. Additionally, a successful Senior Consultant must be able to anticipate and prepare for potential challenges, and create new formats and strategies, where necessary, to meet a client’s objectives and build strong relationships with colleagues, adapt easily to differing work styles and be committed to continuous learning and process improvement.

A successful Senior Consultant understands and lives by FTI’s values, Code of Ethics and the Strategic Communications Rules of Practice. Additional information about FTI’s values, Code of Ethics and the Strategic Communications Rules of Practice can be accessed here. FTI professionals must act with the highest level of integrity at all times and hold our clients accountable for the same.

Additionally, a successful Senior Consultant is assured in an entrepreneurial environment, teaming successfully across multiple projects while demonstrating thoughtfulness, efficiency, accuracy and attention to detail. Candidates must be able to build strong relationships with colleagues, adapt easily to differing work styles and be committed to continuous learning and process improvement.

Some travel may be required ─ including the possibility of being a key contributor to onsite client engagements, but this is NOT a traditional on-the-road consulting role. Travel is more the exception than the norm.

While we strive to support one another and help all team members achieve a healthy work-life balance, evening and weekend work is a requirement of this role and may not always be predictable.

What You'll Do

Our team prides itself on maintaining an entrepreneurial spirit in which all team members are encouraged to offer ideas and stretch their abilities on an ongoing basis. We work diligently to make opportunities available, and all roll up our sleeves to support our clients and each other with tasks large and small. As a result, there is no such thing as a “typical day” for our team members, but you can expect your work will include the following:

Client Delivery

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of each client's business and industry

  • Contribute to the development of strategic project plans for client programs

  • Draft client materials, such as internal communications, stakeholder messaging and presentations

  • Anticipate client needs and concerns and proactively work with senior leaders to address them

  • Provide strong project management support to ensure on-time delivery aligned with broader project plans

Business Development

  • Work with colleagues to produce research-based pitch decks and proposals

  • Partner with senior team members to develop new offerings that address needs in the market (may include authoring thought leadership, driving social media content, pursuing awards, etc.)

How You'll Grow

With an emphasis on a collaborative and flexible team approach, we all learn from each other as we tackle client challenges and continue to grow our offerings. More specifically, your individual growth will be supported through:

  • Consistent Coaching: A dedicated coach will work with you to define goals, navigate any obstacles you may encounter and support your progress each step of the way. At the Senior Consultant level, most of our professionals meet with their coach at least every two weeks and often weekly. You should never be surprised in a performance review… it’s just a recap of the conversations you’ve already been having.

  • Thoughtful Staffing: We believe it’s essential for Senior Consultants to gain a well-rounded skillset, with opportunities to discover their true passions over time. A centralized committee oversees the staffing of all client accounts to ensure you get the experiences you need to meet your goals as well as opportunities to work with – and learn from – a diverse set of senior professionals.

  • Feedback Through Ongoing Client Work: Our team has adopted shared commitments to one another, including commitments to open communication and regular “feedback moments.” The documents you write don’t get lost in cyberspace. You won’t have to wonder if your presentation of your work went well. You’ll see how thinking evolves in real time, get clear feedback on your contributions and have opportunities to ask questions.

  • Formal Training: Ongoing learning and development programs – ranging from internally led webinars, to online courses, to full change management certification – ensure you gain the skills needed to succeed at every level. Team members also provide ad hoc training as needs are identified, whether that’s understanding the bankruptcy process or co-creating a master list of what good quality control looks like. We are committed to investing in our talent.
