The Opportunity
This position works out of our Alameda, CA location in the Abbott Diabetes Care Division, where we are focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better-informed decisions. We’re revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology.
This Senior Electrical Component Engineer will establish this discipline with ADC. They will work with product designers, sustaining engineers, global supply chain, supplier quality on vendor and part selection and qualification, vendor management. Develop cross-functional working relationships and provide effective communication to Senior Management.
What you’ll work on
- Work with product designers and sustaining engineers to select reliable, effective, available parts, from reputable manufactures, that meet all applicable agency regulations (RoHS, REACH, etc), with multiple alternates.
- Work within sustaining engineering on product/component life cycle management, second source qualification to address end of life (EOL), obsolescence, supply shortages.
- Perform tests to qualify components and provide give timely.
- Assess supplier change notifications.
- Created, maintained, and released component documentation into Agile (document control system)
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with suppliers
- Develop/Maintain knowledge of component landscape.
- Provide expertise on primary coin cell batteries, small Lithium Ion (Li-ion), passive components used in low power and RF (Bluetooth, NFC) applications including ceramic capacitors (MLCC), inductors, resistors.
- Develop expertise on displays and audio devices for small handheld products.,
- Participate in design reviews
- Responded and executed a wide variety of work assignments supporting the total end-to-end process
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with 7 + years of experience of relevant experience or 11+ years of relevant experience.
- Applicable experience includes Procurement Engineer, Supplier Engineer.
- Hardware test and failure analysis at the component level
- Knowledge of statistical analysis, correlation methodology, statistical analysis, DOE and JMP data-based decision making
- Excellent organization, written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Altium.
- Experience identifying counterfeit components

The base pay for this position is
$109,300.00 – $218,500.00
In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
