Senior Commercial Account Consultant
Department: Business Insurance / Property & Casualty
We are seeking a talented Senior Account Consultant to join our Business Insurance team at Marsh McLennan Agency. This role provides the opportunity to manage complex commercial insurance accounts and serve as a primary consultant and relationship manager for our clients. This position is a highly experienced individual contributor who manages 4–8 very complex accounts and works collaboratively with Producers and the broader account management team.
As a Senior Account Consultant, you will directly manage client insurance programs, provide strategic risk management recommendations, oversee renewals and implementation activities, and serve as a subject-matter expert and trusted advisor to your clients and internal teams. This role will be based in San Antonio, Texas. Due to the close working relationship with between the Senior Account Consultant, Producers, and Account Executives this role has a requirement of three to four days a week in the office.

Client Satisfaction & Relationship Management
- Own client satisfaction and retention; serve as the primary resource and relationship manager for strategic issues.
- Directly manage the execution and delivery of client calendar/timeline milestones and coordinate account team activities.
- Conduct meetings and maintain ongoing communication with clients to assess satisfaction and proactively improve outcomes.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with client decision-makers, senior HR/Risk leadership, and C-suite sponsors.
- Monitor and manage the quality of service delivered by MMA team members, carriers, TPAs, and vendors.
Consulting & Technical Expertise
- Consult with clients and provide strategic risk management and plan design recommendations that align with their business strategy, culture, and priorities.
- Analyze risk data, client operations, and market trends to develop appropriate insurance solutions and funding arrangements.
- Present financial and risk management reports with data and information relevant to planning, budget considerations, and strategic decision-making.
- Maintain strong working knowledge and command of commercial insurance products, carrier/TPA services, and alternative risk financing strategies (e.g., deductibles, SIRs, Captive programs).
- Maintain mastery-level knowledge of MMA services, resources, capabilities, and leverage them effectively on behalf of clients.
- Lead pre-renewal planning, strategy development, renewal bid management, and vendor negotiations.
Implementation & Operations
- Oversee implementation, renewal execution, and transition activities to ensure smooth account transitions.
- Track and monitor account revenue levels.
- Function as the primary go-to resource for client contract reviews and ensure maintenance of organized, timely records via EPIC.
- Ensure adherence to service timelines and maintain service plans through continuous use of renewal timelines and workflow checklists.
Marketing & Business Development
- Represent MMA externally at conferences, meetings, councils, community events, and industry forums.
- Support RFPs, finalist presentations, and MMA marketing initiatives.
- Maintain market knowledge, stay current with industry trends, and cultivate strong carrier/TPA/vendor relationships.
- Make recommendations for additional products, services, and opportunities to expand broker/consultant services with existing clients.
Leadership & Team Development
- Serve as an internal subject-matter expert in designated areas of expertise.
- Maintain and exhibit a positive, professional appearance and image that reflects MMA standards of excellence.
Compliance & Internal Contributions
- Understand and adhere to MMA policies, procedures, and employee handbook requirements.
- Adhere to security and compliance requirements; appropriately manage and protect PHI/PII; protect agency intellectual capital.
- Meet or exceed role model standards of excellence in daily work and service delivery.
What you need to have:
- 10+ years of commercial account executive, account consultant, or related experience in insurance brokerage or risk management.
- Active Texas Property & Casualty Agent License required.
- Strong technical knowledge and mastery of commercial insurance products, underwriting, and alternative risk financing strategies (e.g., deductibles, SIRs, Captive programs).
- Proven ability to manage complex, multi-faceted accounts; prioritize competing deadlines; and deliver high-quality results under pressure.
- Exceptional client-facing and communication skills with the ability to build credibility and influence at all levels of an organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and comfort working with data, analytics, coverage evaluation, and risk identification processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email); proficiency with EPIC agency management system and CRM platforms preferred.
- High level of organization with strong attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, risk management, or related field (or equivalent professional experience); CIC, CRM, or CPCU professional designation preferred.
