What success looks like in this role:
- Lead migration of application and database servers to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), planning cutover sequencing to minimize downtime and ensure data integrity.
- Design and implement OCI landing-zone architecture, including compute, storage, networking, and security (IAM, VCNs, security lists/NSGs), aligned to best practices.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, OCI DevOps) for automated build, test, and deployment of application workloads.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / OCI Resource Manager) for repeatable, version-controlled provisioning of environments.
- Partner with DBAs and application teams to plan and execute Oracle Database migration strategies (Data Pump, RMAN, GoldenGate, or equivalent) with minimal disruption.
- Containerize and orchestrate applicable workloads (Docker, Kubernetes/OKE) as part of the target-state architecture.
- Establish core DevOps practices: source control workflows (Git/GitHub), branching strategy, automated testing gates, and release/change management.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting (OCI Monitoring/Logging, Grafana, or equivalent) to proactively detect and resolve issues.
- Apply and enforce security and compliance controls throughout the migration lifecycle, including IAM policies, secrets management, and vulnerability remediation.
- Troubleshoot and tune performance of migrated application and database servers post-cutover.
- Produce migration runbooks, architecture diagrams, and standard operating procedures for the target environment.
- Provide post-migration support, mentorship, and knowledge transfer to operations and support teams.
You will be successful in this role if you have:
- BA/BS degree and 4-6 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience
- Hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) — compute, networking, storage, and IAM.
- Strong DevOps toolchain experience: Terraform, CI/CD (GitHub Actions/Jenkins), Docker/Kubernetes.
- Experience migrating Oracle Database and application servers to cloud environments.
- Scripting proficiency (Python or Shell) and solid Linux systems administration.
- Working knowledge of networking, security best practices, and cloud cost/performance optimization.
- OCI certification (Architect or DevOps Professional) is a plus.
