ECS is seeking a Sr Cloud DevOps Engineer to work remotely.
ECS is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) DCCO contract. The Sr. Cloud Engineer will provide technical leadership to a team of engineers and is responsible for the design, implementation, and operations and maintenance (O&M) of the multi-tenant Web Content Management as a Service (WCMaaS) platform. This includes managing all aspects of the underlying infrastructure, such as servers and storage. The Senior Cloud Engineer will work to continuously enhance the platform, leveraging secure, scalable, cost-effective, and operationally sustainable cloud solutions.
This role requires deep expertise in cloud services, infrastructure automation, DevSecOps, open-source ecosystems, enterprise solution design, and software and infrastructure engineering practices. The ideal candidate brings strong technical leadership, the ability to engage with a diverse set of stakeholders, and the ability to adapt solutions to evolving requirements and priorities. The Senior Cloud Engineer will also mentor junior engineers and contribute to establishing best practices that enhance delivery processes across teams.
Cloud Engineering & Architecture
- Independently apply a wide set of engineering disciplines for planning, design, analysis, coding, testing, roll-out, and support of information systems architectures.
- Continuously optimize AWS cloud platform services across all integration points.
- Serve as a technical SME for cloud services, providers, and platforms.
- Lead solution-architecting sessions that evaluate tradeoffs between design, risk, and cost.
Collaboration & Delivery
- Interact closely with key project stakeholders to design, plan, and implement operationally sustainable solutions.
- Work closely with the technical team to deliver proposed designs.
- Provide thought leadership and design leadership across engineering efforts.
- Problem-solve technical challenges as they arise and adjust solutions based on discoveries or new requirements.
- Provide regular updates to leadership.
- Develop implementation plans reflecting required steps and timeline as well as assigning ownership.
Continuous Improvement & Organizational Impact
- Leverage a data-driven approach to continuous solution, organizational, and workforce improvement.
- Optimize performance across multiple teams by suggesting delivery-process improvements aligned to evolving best practices and project context.
- Contribute to the professional development of junior engineers through oversight and mentorship.
Salary Range: $150,000 - $160,000

- Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, AWS DevOps Engineer, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).

- Proficiency in Linux and Ansible.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and excellent client-interaction skills.
- Experience overseeing or mentoring junior engineers.
