What you'll doWe're building a talent pipeline for exceptional Senior Backend Engineers who want to be part of Clara’s mission in transforming corporate spend management across Latin America. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll help architect and scale backend services that power mission-critical features. You'll partner with cross-functional teams to ensure our systems are performant, maintainable, and aligned with both technical and business goals.
Typical responsibilities include:
Designing and developing backend services using Java, Spring, and Spring Boot
Architecting scalable systems based on microservices, distributed systems, and RESTful APIs
Building integrations with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or DynamoDB
Leveraging event-driven architectures and tools like Kafka or RabbitMQ
Driving DevOps best practices with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines
Operating within AWS and applying cloud-native architecture principles
Applying TDD, BDD, and Agile methodologies to ensure high-quality releases
Mentoring engineers and contributing to architectural strategy
We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Must haves7+ years of backend development experience using Java, especially with Spring/Spring Boot
Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, and microservices
Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases
Familiarity with event-driven systems and message brokers
Hands-on experience with CI/CD, DevOps, and cloud platforms like AWS
Deep knowledge of TDD, BDD, and Agile development
Strong communication and leadership skills
Working proficiency in English and Spanish
Proactive, adaptable, and execution-focused
Background in financial applications or platforms
Previous experience as a Tech Lead or team mentor
Interest in using AI tools to boost engineering efficiency

Claridians in a hybrid mode split their time between working from the office, talking to or visiting customers, or working from home. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for each individual and team.
We don't enforce a minimum number of days for most roles, but you're expected to spend time at the office organically, and be at the office most days during your ramp-up or when required by your leader.
