We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Azure Database Administrator (DBA) who is self-driven and motivated in designing, delivering improvements and supporting our various critical business systems.
The selected candidate will work on highly prioritized and visible efforts that will optimize and modernize existing processes, automation and flows that are database dependent.
Along with project delivery and operational support responsibilities, the Senior DBA will contribute to strategic efforts in cloud database migration and governance and is expected to proactively identify tools and solutions for monitoring, maintenance and development purposes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Become the Subject Matter Expert (SME) to help lead the administration, development and implementation of database-related technical solutions related (but not limited) to the firm’s Financial, Human Resources, Marketing, Intranet, Data Lake, New Business Intake (NBI), Conflict systems and other automation initiatives.
  • Manage all data flows, integrations and automation technology components of the firm’s various systems and solutions, including SaaS, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and custom developed applications.
  • Execute routines and emergency maintenance support for SQL databases, which include Azure SQL, SQL Managed Instances and SQL Servers.
  • Work with project managers, DBA(s) and other members of the IT department to ensure solutions meet user requirements and establish IT standards/best practice. 
  • Lead SQL upgrades and modernization initiatives, which may include resolving compatibility and dependency issues as well as post migration validation and support.
  • Responsible for setting up pro-active monitoring, perform performance tuning and optimization for the various databases.
  • Provide production support for deployed systems, including rotating on-call duty. 
  • Perform effective system testing, and document and resolve problems to ensure project efforts remain on schedule. 
  • Mentor other members of the IT department on database design and operational optimization. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field. 
  • A minimum of seven years of experience with SQL-based database management systems is required, including at least three years of recent experience working with MS SQL Server, SQL Managed Instance, and Azure SQL.  
  • Strong technical experience administering and supporting various enterprise grade systems (i.e., Finance, HR, Marketing, Operations, etc.), with thorough working knowledge of both the database, servers and application components, including the associated hardware (compute, memory, and storage) and operating systems. 
  • Demonstrated extensive expertise in Windows/Azure architecture, coupled with a thorough understanding of essential administrative applications, including security management and permissions oversight.  
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and communicate effectively in both verbal and written, at all levels within the organization and with end users to ensure timely delivery and customer satisfaction. 
  • Self-organized, goal oriented, possess a strong “can-do” work ethic and willing to take ownership of multiple projects, responsibilities and requests simultaneously. 
  • Experience supporting law firm/professional services administrative systems is highly desirable.  
  • Microsoft Certified Azure DBA is preferred. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure. 
  • Experience with Azure, Windows Server platforms and Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) planning and architecture. 
  • Familiarity with server virtualization technologies and containerization. 
  • Solid understanding of networking, security, and database management. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate closely as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
