Why This Role Is Valuable
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Supervisor to join our organization. The Payroll Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing payroll operations and ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for approximately 2,000 employees. This role requires strong knowledge and experience in payroll management, as well as expertise in utilizing Workday software. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing large-scale, multi-state payrolls, a deep understanding of payroll regulations and compliance, and the ability to optimize payroll processes through effective use of technology.
How You Add Value
Payroll Operations:
- Oversee the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payroll calculations, deductions, and payments for all employees.
- Oversee payroll data, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, and timekeeping information for its accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations.
- Review and reconcile payroll reports to identify and resolve discrepancies or errors.
- Conduct investigation into potential errors and plan administration issues, including appropriate documentation and recommendations on necessary actions to resolve.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other departments to ensure accurate payroll data and resolve payroll-related inquiries.
- Liaison between Payroll and ADP
Workday Payroll Management:
- Serve as the subject matter expert on Workday payroll and timekeeping functionality and configuration.
- Utilize Workday to manage payroll processes, including payroll setup, data entry, and payroll calculations.
- Collaborate with HR technology team to implement system enhancements, integrations, and upgrades related to payroll processing.
- Troubleshoot system issues, provide end-user support, and coordinate with Workday support teams as needed.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Stay up to date on payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of payroll-related reports and tax filings.
- Prepare and distribute employee payroll statements and reports, such as earnings summaries, tax forms, and year-end documentation.
- Coordinate with auditors and respond to payroll-related audit inquiries.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee payroll information and adhere to data privacy and security standards.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes and improve efficiency through automation and system enhancements.
- Implement best practices and standardized procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency in payroll operations.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate payroll practices and systems, recommending improvements to enhance payroll accuracy, compliance, and employee experience.
- Continuously creating and updating SOP.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Supervise and mentor payroll staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the team meets its goals and deadlines.
- Assist in setting performance goals and provide regular feedback to team members.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and professional development.
What You Bring To The Role
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years of multi-state payroll and tax experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory role, identifying and building high-performing teams
- Minimum of 1 year experience in WorkDay Timekeeping and Payroll
- Minimum of 1 year experience in ADP Smart Compliance
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including team members, management, external parties
- Experience presenting to C-Suite executives
- Highly proficient with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Self-motivated with the ability to excel and be flexible in fast-paced, ever-changing environments
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Extensive knowledge of applicable state and federal employment, wage & hour, and labor laws
Preferred:
- Experience working in shared service environment or with outsourced service providers
- Experience in Workday implementation
- Certified Payroll Professional
