Role Summary
The Global Intercompany Accountant owns end-to-end intercompany accounting operations across multiple legal entities and regions. This role ensures accurate intercompany billing, reconciliations, settlement, and elimination support in compliance with internal policies. The position partners closely with regional finance teams, Controllership, Tax, Treasury, and Shared Services to support a timely close, clean intercompany balances, and strong internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
Intercompany Accounting Operations
- Execute intercompany billing, cross-charges, and allocations (services, management fees, royalties, cost-plus, R&D recharge).
- Maintain accurate intercompany AR/AP, accruals, and settlement tracking across entities and currencies.
- Maintain transfer price list and regions statutory PNL compliance with tax requirement.
- Review of transfer pricing results, including routine charges and periodic true‑ups.
- Ensure transfer pricing impacts are accurately reflected in regional P&L and statutory results.
Reconciliations & Dispute Resolution
- Lead monthly and quarterly intercompany reconciliations across regions, ERPs, and currencies.
- Identify mismatches, perform root-cause analysis, and drive timely resolution with counterparties.
- Monitor intercompany aging, confirmations, and mismatch reporting; enforce standards and timelines.
Period-End Close & Reporting
- Ensure intercompany balances are complete, accurate, and on time.
- Prepare and review intercompany journal entries (accruals, true-ups, reclasses, FX, settlements).
- Provide schedules and analysis for consolidation and elimination processes.
Controls, Compliance & Audit
- Execute and document key controls (SOX/ICFR where applicable), including reconciliations and approvals.
- Support internal and external audits with reconciliations, transaction support, and documentation.
- Ensure adherence to accounting policies, close calendars, and documentation standards.
Process Improvement & Collaboration
- Drive standardization and automation of intercompany processes and reconciliation workflows.
- Partner with AP/AR, Tax, Treasury, FP&A, and regional Controllers to reduce aged items.
- Participate in system implementations or enhancements (ERP, consolidation, intercompany tools).
Education & Certifications
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance,
Preferred: Master’s degree or MBA; CPA, CA, ACCA, or CIMA
Experience Requirements
Required: 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with ownership of intercompany accounting; strong month-end close experience; multinational, multi-entity, and multi-currency exposure
Preferred: Consolidations experience; partnership with Tax; systems or continuous improvement experience
