In this position...
Ford's Aerodynamics team is looking for an exceptional, well rounded, Aerodynamics Engineer to grow our capabilities and help us accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy. You will be involved in the development of ground-breaking new products from their earliest conception, through to volume production and beyond, delivering unparalleled efficiency and ludicrous performance alongside uncompromising comfort, safety and reliability. The successful candidate will have a proven record of applying deep technical understanding to real world design problems to produce creative solutions. You will work dynamically with cross functional partners in Design, Vehicle Engineering and Program Management to meet challenging aerodynamics targets and redefine what is possible in the automotive industry.  

Responsibilities

What you'll do...

  • Use a first principles approach to create aerodynamically efficient designs and redefine what is possible in the automotive industry  
  • Work with cross functional partners, such as Design and Vehicle Engineering, from early concept to production to relentlessly improve aerodynamic performance and an awesome overall product
  • Work alongside Designers to define products that are as aerodynamically efficient as they are aesthetically pleasing
  • Design and modify aerodynamic concepts in CAD
  • Evaluate and refine designs using CFD and experimental methods
  • Define and execute wind tunnel, road and track test programs
  • Working with engineers to optimize part execution for aerodynamics and to resolve design conflicts
  • Developing tools and methods used within the Aerodynamics team
Qualifications

You'll have...

  • BS degree Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in aerodynamic development
  • 5+ years using CFD and experimental testing, such as wind tunnel or road testing
  • 3+ years creating and manipulating 3D surfaces in CAD
  • Our preferred requirements:
  • Master's or PhD degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Detailed technical knowledge of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) fundamentals
  • Active user of LLMs
  • Ability to communicate complex aerodynamics concepts and goals to cross functional partners
  • Track record of creating and developing novel aerodynamic concepts
  • Automotive or Motorsport industry experience
  • A passion for sustainable energy or solving technical challenges

This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $138,800-$232,700.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
