JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Accounting Manager reports to the Director of Accounting and Tax and will protect and grow the amazing company culture by supporting the Accounting team with daily, monthly, and annual financial reporting requirements and compliance. Responsibilities include managing the month-end close process, preparing and reviewing complex account reconciliations and improving general accounting processes. QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification preferred.
- Experience:
- 3-5+ years of accounting experience, with experience in IPO readiness and/or public company reporting.
- Experience in public accounting (Big 4 preferred) or with a high-growth, pre-IPO company.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, SEC reporting, and IPO processes.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a demanding environment.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in financial reporting systems (NetSuite is a plus) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Tax experience is a plus
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- IPO Readiness & SEC Reporting:
- Assist in preparing financial statements and disclosures for S-1 filings and other IPO-related documentation.
- Support the development of periodic SEC reports, including 10-Q, 10-K, and 8-K, in preparation for post-IPO compliance.
- Ensure compliance with SEC regulations, US GAAP, and emerging regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with external advisors, auditors, and legal teams during the IPO process.
- Technical Accounting:
- Research and implement new accounting standards relevant to a public company.
- Assist in documenting technical accounting positions and ensure readiness for scrutiny during the IPO process.
- Draft accounting policies and procedures to support public company operations.
- Financial Close:
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including ASC 842 adjustments, deferred revenue, and gift card accounting
- Prepare reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analyses to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Assist in developing efficient processes to support public company reporting deadlines.
- Supervise and review the reconciliation of cash deposits from the parks and all other bank transactions
- Supervise and review the preparation of sales/use and property tax returns
- Mentor and develop three direct reports (two in Accounting and one in Tax), including training and giving direction to the team as needed
- Audit Support:
- Serve as a key liaison with external auditors and advisors throughout the IPO process and beyond.
- Prepare audit schedules and provide timely responses to inquiries.
- Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Assist in designing and documenting internal controls to meet SOX compliance requirements post-IPO.
- Identify process improvements and strengthen internal controls in preparation for public reporting.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This position requires the ability to remain stationary while working on a computer all day, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Compensation range is $110-$120k + bonus based on qualifications, experience, and performance.
