Job Description
In this role, you will be responsible for executing internal monitoring and activities, focusing particularly on Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance. You will work closely with various departments to assess controls, identify risks, and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in audit methodologies, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to
communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. This role works independently with minimal guidance and reports to the Manager of Accounting & Compliance.
Actively participate as a key member of the team in the execution of integrated control reviews
• Support maintenance and creation of high quality workstream deliverables (i.e. process flows, RCMs, workpaper documentation)
• Perform and document internal control testing to ensure adherence to SOX requirements and effectiveness of controls.
• Monitor ongoing compliance with SOX regulations and internal policies and identify areas of improvement
• Solves complex problems and exercises judgment based on analysis of multiple sources of information
• Facilitate implementation of new/revised accounting policies across business units with the ability to explain difficult or sensitive information
• Assist with control deficiency remediation as required.
• Develop and maintain internal control testing procedures and templates to be utilized in ongoing control monitoring.
• Collaborate with management and stakeholders to communicate control deficiencies,
recommendations, and best practices.
• Monitor and follow-up on the implementation of recommendations and corrective actions.
• Provide training and guidance to SOX process and control owners.
• Utilize AuditBoard SOX tool to maintain all SOX related data.
• Conduct site visits to various business units to evaluate effectiveness of control environments
(~10% travel).
• Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience
• Support special projects as appropriate
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. (CPA or CIA certification
required.)
• Progressive experience with 5+ years of auditing with a strong emphasis on SOX compliance within a Big 4 or public company environment. Blend of public accounting (SOX/IT SOX) and internal/external audit experience highly desirable.
• Direct experience with GAAP, ASC 606, financial statement risks and controls
• Exposure to IT application controls, report testing (IPEs) and familiarity with IT General Controls (ITGCs)
• Strong understanding of SOX regulations and internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO).
• Proficiency in audit software preferred (AuditBoard), Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience in contract accounting or Aerospace & Defense industry a plus
• Detail-oriented and organized (critical skills for this role), with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
