Purpose:

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in supporting the accounting and financial reporting of Athene’s reinsurance transactions, a core driver of the company’s growth strategy. This role partners closely with Finance, Actuarial, and Legal teams to deliver accurate, timely, and insightful financial information across complex and high-value transactions.

Accountabilities:

• Support accounting and financial reporting for reinsurance transactions, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and related analyses
• Partner with Finance, Actuarial, Legal, and external stakeholders to support transaction execution, financial close, and reporting requirements
• Contribute to the preparation of financial disclosures for SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q) and other regulatory reporting
• Assist in the implementation and maintenance of internal controls in compliance with SOX, and support internal and external audit processes
• Support process improvements, automation initiatives, and finance transformation efforts to enhance efficiency and scalability

Qualifications and Experience:

• 5+ years of relevant experience in accounting, preferably within insurance, reinsurance, or financial services
• Experience with US GAAP and STAT reporting; familiarity with reinsurance or life/annuity products strongly preferred
• Experience supporting financial close, reporting, and audit processes in a regulated environment (e.g., SOX)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; demonstrates curiosity, adaptability, and a continuous improvement mindset
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent professional designation preferred
