Senior Accountant
General Summary: The Senior Accountant contributes to the organization's funding strategy and long-term financial security. This position collaborates with the executive management team to analyze department finances and develop budgets that keep the company's costs down. Additionally, this role analyzes market trends and various business opportunities from a financial perspective.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare business activity reports, financial statements, and forecasts.
- Make sure financial, and legal requirements are met
- Developing financial reporting systems
- Find ways to reduce or maintain costs by studying financial reports and business processes.
- Analyze market trends to discover business opportunities and maximize profits.
- Aid management in financial decisions
- Maintain up-to-date financial system knowledge
- Manage the preparation and publication of departmental and organizational financial documents.
- Collaborate with management on the development and execution of funding strategies • Manages and processes company-wide bi-weekly payroll through the payroll system.
- Responsible for month-end closing entries and journal entry processing
- Executes and analyzes the entire AP process- invoice entry, check runs, and mailing payments
- Produces and manages monthly P&L budget • Perform operations for finance functions- AP, AR, FP&A, Payroll, and Accounting. Experience:
- Seven years experience in a financial management position
- Preferred health care experience.
Requirements
Skills:
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all staff segments, including the Agency leadership team.
- Proven strategic planning experience at the management level
- Knowledge of office machines preferred.
- Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated creative and critical thinking skills
- Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communication and presentation skills
Education:
- Required bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field required (MBA preferred)
Physical Requirements:
- Sedentary Work: exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. It may involve sitting most of the time but walking or standing for brief periods.
- Sitting or standing, bending, stooping, and the ability to carry items weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Typical ability to collect and analyze numerical and written data and verbal information to reach logical conclusions and ability to determine the time, place, and sequence of operations or actions required.
- Constant ability to read, record, or type data quickly and accurately required.
Environmental/Working Conditions:
- Working long hours between breaks or meals required.
- Ability to work under and handle stress in an appropriate manner required.
- May be exposed to high, medium, or low noise intensity.
- Constant contact with co-workers and guests is required.
- Machinery/Tools/Equipment Requirements: fax machine, telephone, copy machine, computer, printer, calculator
Skills Required
- Seven years of experience in a financial management position
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- MBA
- Healthcare experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Strategic planning experience at the management level
- Strong communication and presentation skills
