Shamin Hotels is looking for a talented Senior Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting team in Richmond, Virginia.
This is an opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys digging into the details but also wants to understand the bigger picture behind the numbers. You’ll work across multiple areas of our business—including employee benefits, payroll, insurance, labor costs, and financial reporting—giving you broad exposure to the financial operations of a large and growing hospitality organization.
You won’t be working in a silo. This role partners closely with Accounting, Human Resources, Payroll, Risk Management, and operational leaders across the company. If you enjoy solving problems, improving processes, and turning complex financial information into something accurate and actionable, this could be a great next step in your career.
What You’ll DoAs our Senior Accountant, you’ll take ownership of several important areas of corporate accounting while playing a key role in month-end and year-end close, audits, financial analysis, and process improvement.
Your work will include:
- Managing and reconciling accounting related to employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and retirement plans.
- Reviewing payroll deductions, employer contributions, and benefit-related general ledger accounts for accuracy.
- Preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and cost allocations across departments and multiple entities.
- Supporting the accounting and financial tracking of the company’s business insurance programs.
- Managing prepaid expenses, accruals, amortization schedules, and insurance-related account reconciliations.
- Developing and maintaining labor allocation methodologies across cost centers.
- Recording and allocating purchasing card transactions and expense reimbursements.
- Participating in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Preparing financial reports and analysis that help leaders better understand the business.
- Supporting audits, bank reporting, and compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
- Identifying opportunities to make accounting processes smarter, more efficient, and more scalable.
- Participating in system enhancements, automation initiatives, and cross-functional projects.
We’re looking for someone who takes pride in getting the details right but doesn’t stop there. You ask questions. You investigate discrepancies. You look for better ways to do things. And you can work independently while still being a strong partner to people across different departments.
A four-year undergraduate degree in Accounting is required for this position.
The strongest candidates will also bring at least three years of professional accounting experience, ideally with exposure to operational accounting, high-volume transactions, or a multi-entity or multi-location organization.
Experience preparing balance sheet reconciliations, supporting audits, working across multiple financial systems, or handling complex allocations will help you succeed in this role.
You’ll also need strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines—especially during month-end, year-end, audit, tax, and budget cycles.
Why This Role?If you are looking for an accounting position where you can expand your experience beyond one narrow area, this role offers the opportunity to do just that.
You’ll gain exposure to complex corporate accounting functions, work alongside leaders throughout the organization, and have the opportunity to help shape processes as Shamin Hotels continues to grow. We value people who see an opportunity to improve something and are willing to Own It.
At Shamin Hotels, our culture is built around our TOP values:
Team Up — Collaborate, build strong relationships, and help others succeed.
Own It — Take responsibility, stay curious, and keep learning.
