Job Summary
This position is responsible for supporting accurate financial reporting and accounting activities for plant and live operations. Responsibilities include invoice and payment approvals, account reconciliations, inventory and intercompany accounting, period-end close activities, contract administration, and operational reporting. The role also provides oversight and guidance to accounting team members while ensuring compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, company policies, and contractual requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Approves feed invoices and ensures appropriate documentation and accuracy.
- Maintains feed ingredient cost tracking used to support production cost analysis.
- Reviews and approves grower payments, including settlements, interim payments, reimbursements, and incentives, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual terms.
- Reviews and approves live haul invoices.
- Prepares weekly flock estimates and other operational financial reports.
- Completes recurring operational and financial reporting for management.
- Manages grower contracts and maintains accurate contract records and modifications.
- Tracks and reconciles non-product inventories.
- Records and reconciles intercompany transactions.
- Tracks and records period-end accruals and other required accounting entries.
- Prepares monthly bank reconciliations.
- Prepares and uploads account reconciliations and audit support documentation for corporate reporting and audit purposes.
- Maintains and updates general ledger accounts within the company’s ERP system.
- Performs period-end module closings, budget uploads, and journal entries for plant and live operations.
- Assists with weekly financial estimates and key performance indicator reporting as needed.
- Oversees Live Operations accounting activities, providing guidance, reviewing work, and ensuring consistent application of accounting standards and internal controls.
- Prepares required quarterly regulatory and employment-related reports.
- Supports accurate and timely financial reporting to assist operational and corporate management with business decisions.
- Identifies and resolves accounting discrepancies and works cross-functionally with operations and other departments to ensure accurate financial information.
- Performs additional accounting and financial analysis as needed to support business operations.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
Experience: 3 plus years accounting experience.
Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel; knowledge of SAP and data base systems preferred.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Special Skills: Strong critical thinking skills.
Supervisory: This position is responsible for supervising a support team member who performs similar and or interrelated tasks and activities.
