Job Description
The purpose of this job is to ensure the company is compliant with accurate federal, state, and local excise tax rates.
Essential Functions
- Conduct excise tax taxability research and tax account reconciliation
- Perform federal, state, and local tax rate verification and research
- Manage system maintenance for Ascend, Lawson, and FuelSmart
- Assist excise tax supervisor and lead excise tax accountant with more extensive review of excise tax issues
- Train and mentor excise tax accountants
- Model behaviors that support the company’s common purpose; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest level
- Ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required
- Minimum five years’ experience with federal, multistate, and local excise tax required
Specialized Knowledge
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills including Access
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA exam-eligible preferred
- Advanced knowledge of Lawson, Ascend, FuelSmart, Fueltrac, and Husker Oil software

Pay Rates Starting between: $89,670.00 - $147,945.00 / year
