Ameresco has an immediate opening for a Sr. Account Executive of Building Controls. This is a highly skilled professional responsible for developing the relationships, identifying the opportunities, managing the pursuit, and participating in all parts of the process of contracting projects that drive our business forward. This role involves advanced skills in relationship building, selling to multiple types of buyers, and creating opportunities in both plan and spec, relationship selling, and direct to end user/owners.

Key Overview:

Relationship Building:

  • Be the pointy end of the spear that identifies and builds relationships that lead to new and continued business with customers.
  • Conceptually design innovative solutions to address specific client needs and project requirements. Bring the required technical resources to bear to flush out design and estimating requirements necessary to sell and contract business.

Project Leadership:

  • Take the lead on all aspects of a project prior to a project being handed off to the project manager. This includes but is not limited to driving (and doing as needed) all aspects of proposal generation, ensuring all contract compliance components are in place, that contracts are reviewed through the proper channels, and that all business and contract risks are considered appropriately.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement marketing and sales strategies to identify, target, qualify, and secure prospects for new building controls business opportunities
  • Lead, drive, and manage sales activities and resources from lead generation through development and implementation
  • Formulate marketing and business development forecasts, plans, and activities to increase company presence in defined markets and achieve regional objectives 
  • Develop, manage, and execute individual and regional sales pipelines
  • Serve as key point of contact with customer and lead all presentations
  • Oversee the successful development, organization, strategic positioning, preparation, and issuance of winning proposals and presentations
  • Review project submittals for quality assurance, technical accuracy, and customer-oriented solutions.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior members of the team as the are included on project pursuits as resources to the team.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ leadership experience driving marketing and sales activities to develop, secure, and implement building controls projects.
  • Demonstrated business development, cultivation, relationship management skills with ability to identify customer needs and effectively communicate, position, negotiate, and close complex sales.
  • Regional Travel required to meet customers face to face on their terms.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Excellent working knowledge of building automation and energy management systems, facility operations and installations involving multiple building automation system manufacturers. Knowledge of the underlying systems that are controlled by the system, including but not limited to: chiller and boiler plants, motors, VSDs, HVAC retrofit, conservation, distributed generation, energy efficiency, and renewable technology projects.
  • Superior financial planning, budgeting, and organizational resource management abilities.
  • Excellent verbal, written, technical and computer communication and presentation skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and business relationships.
  • Advanced MS Office proficiency. Knowledge of energy analysis software desirable.
  • Exhibit comprehensive knowledge and understanding of project proposal and contract terms
  • Coordinate the development interface with project management and operations teams to assure customer satisfaction
  • Cultivate positive and effective business relationships
