POSITION OVERVIEW

As a SQL Data Developer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and optimizing database solutions using Microsoft SQL Server and Azure cloud-based technologies. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that data is efficiently and effectively integrated into applications and processes. The ideal candidate will be within commutable distance of our Houston office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Database Development:
• Design and develop efficient, scalable, and high-performance database solutions using Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL Database.
• Create, modify, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers to meet application requirements.
• Collaborate with application developers to ensure seamless integration of database components within both on-premise and cloud environments.




• Database Optimization:
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in SQL Server and Azure SQL databases through query optimization, indexing, and schema design enhancements.
• Monitor database performance using various tools and implement performance-tuning strategies, particularly within the Azure environment.




• Cloud Integration:
• Work with Azure cloud technologies, including Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, and other Azure data services.
• Implement and manage data integration pipelines using Azure Data Factory to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into SQL Server and Azure databases.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely data integration within the Azure ecosystem.




• Troubleshooting and Support:
• Investigate and resolve database-related issues, including performance problems, data integrity concerns, and connectivity errors in both on-premise and Azure environments.
• Provide technical support to development teams and end-users as needed.




• Documentation:
• Maintain thorough documentation of database designs, processes, and configurations, including those related to Azure-based databases.
• Create and update technical documentation for database-related procedures and standards.

• REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree Required in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
• Minimum of (5) years of professional work experience as a SQL Data Developer.
• Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
• Strong understanding of database design principles, normalization, and indexing.
• Experience with performance-tuning and query optimization techniques.
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server and Azure SQL Database, including installation, configuration, and security management.
• Experience with Azure cloud services, including Azure Data Factory and other Azure data services.
• Proficiency in ETL processes and data integration, particularly within the Azure environment.
• Proficiency in using Python is a strong plus.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot database issues effectively in both on-premise and cloud environments.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to multitask and work under multiple deadlines.
• Eligible to work in the USA for any employer without current or future sponsorship.

 

• PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS
• Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or similar.
• Working Experience in deregulated electricity markets.
