KPNX 12News, the NBC affiliate in Phoenix, is seeking an experienced Sports Anchor/Multi-Skilled Journalist (MSJ) to join our dynamic team. Phoenix is one of the most vibrant and fast-growing sports markets in the country, offering year-round access to major professional, collegiate, and marquee events. At 12News, we produce high-impact sports content across broadcast, streaming, and digital platforms, including dedicated programming around high school football, the NFL, NBA, and MLB. We are looking for a journalist who goes beyond highlights and scores. We need someone who can uncover meaningful stories, connect with audiences, and create compelling, multi-platform content that stands out in a competitive media landscape.
Responsibilities
• Pitch and develop original, impactful sports stories that resonate across platforms
• Anchor sportscasts and contribute to daily news coverage as needed
• Travel regularly, including weekends, to cover high-profile games and events
• Produce, shoot, write, and edit content for broadcast, digital, and social platforms
• Create storytelling that evokes emotion and connects with diverse audiences
• Build and maintain strong sources within the sports community
• Operate a news gathering vehicle to and from assignments
• Collaborate with newsroom staff to prioritize and execute coverage

Requirements
• Minimum of 5 years of television sports reporting or anchoring experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field preferred
• Proven ability to shoot and edit video independently
• Strong live reporting and anchoring skills
• Demonstrated excellence in storytelling across multiple platforms
• Solid understanding of journalistic standards and ethics
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
