As a Specialist - Technical Sales, you will act in a customer facing role involved in the commercial/technical decision-making process of the sales cycle. Your focus will be on identifying/closing large projects and driving incremental specialized product growth at all levels. You will provide pre and post-sales support and expertise in a specified product category to assist the sales team in their sales efforts of technical products, systems and services. You will deliver presentations and product demonstrations to customers and sales representatives. You will also have a continuing role in customer support to address customer issues in the usage of the products.
Responsibilities:
- Calls on clients, management, and representatives to convince them of the desirability of technical products or services offered.
- Provides technical services to clients relating to specified products.
- Makes sales contacts, researches customer needs and specifications, and provides product and application information, demonstrating technology solutions for customers.
- Gathers, analyzes, and shares technical information and solutions with internal and external customers, coordinating with suppliers and technical resources as needed.
- Serves as the first line of pre/post technical sales support for sales teams.
- Develops expertise in specified product groups.
- Participates in joint sales calls with customers and prospects.
- Participates in ongoing training to maintain technical competency in product and complimentary product areas.
- Understands market conditions and competitive forces.
- Promotes value-add assigned products in competitive situations.
- Participates in marketing, promotion programs, and product launches from product businesses.
- Maintains excellent relationships with vendor product managers and other selling resources.
- Coordinates the apparatus quotation process from request through proposal submission, collaborating with Business Development, Account Managers, suppliers, and internal technical teams to meet customer requirements and deadlines.
- Requests, reviews, and analyzes supplier quotations for technical completeness, compliance, accuracy, and commercial competitiveness, resolving questions and coordinating alternatives or deviations as needed.
- Develops and completes quote documentation and supports bid preparation by gathering technical documentation, pricing information, supplier qualifications, and other required proposal materials.
Qualifications:
- High School Degree or Equivalent required; Bachelors Degree - Engineering or Business preferred
- 1+ years Electrical industry experience as manufacturer or distributor preferred
- 3+ years Sales experience in related industry
- Strong computer skills
- Excellent communication skills
