Job Description:

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Sustainability Specialist to support environmental compliance, permitting, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability initiatives across our operations. This position plays a key role in maintaining our legal and social license to operate while ensuring environmental performance and regulatory compliance are effectively managed.

Working closely with site operations, regulators, communities, and other stakeholders, you will help drive sustainable practices and support the development of long-term environmental and land management strategies.

Legal & Social License to Operate

  • Support environmental permitting and licensing activities across operational sites

  • Coordinate Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and other regulatory studies as required

  • Monitor regulatory developments and provide guidance on permitting and compliance requirements

  • Collaborate with operations teams to obtain and maintain environmental permits and licenses

  • Support environmental emissions management and compliance initiatives

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with regulators, local communities, landowners, and other external stakeholders

  • Support proactive community engagement activities and stakeholder consultation processes

Environmental Compliance & Risk Management

  • Partner with operational teams to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company standards

  • Monitor and assess environmental and sustainability risks across sites

  • Identify environmental liabilities and support the development of mitigation and corrective action plans

  • Coordinate environmental compliance projects and site improvement initiatives

  • Support environmental audits and follow-up actions

  • Monitor and report environmental performance indicators

Land Management & Closure Planning

  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve site closure plans in line with company requirements

  • Support land management activities, including land access, land tenure, and stakeholder engagement related to land use

  • Collaborate with operational teams to manage closed or inactive sites and associated environmental obligations

  • Contribute to GIS and spatial data management where required

Environmental Performance & Sustainability

  • Support initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impacts, including emissions, water use, waste generation, biodiversity impacts, and land disturbance

  • Implement global sustainability programs and identify opportunities for continuous improvement

  • Contribute to sustainability data collection, reporting, and KPI monitoring

  • Provide input into sustainability communications and reporting activities

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, Natural Resources, or a related discipline

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in environmental or sustainability management

  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations, permitting processes, and compliance requirements

  • Experience working with regulatory authorities, government agencies, and external stakeholders

  • Knowledge of environmental management systems and risk management principles

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and project management skills
    Fluent in English and local language
