Coordinates regional berth planning and terminal operations for incoming vessels. Works with terminals, marine operations, and network execution to optimize berth lineups, reduce vessel waiting time, maintain terminal data, and monitor port performance. Supports vendor performance, cost control, invoice verification, dangerous goods and damaged-container handling, port formalities, and stakeholder relationships. Serves as a Portchain super-user and supports terminal onboarding, commercial visits, and operational process improvements.

Responsible for coordinating and overseeing various operational activities which require close contact with the Terminal, mainly related to berth planning, therefore ensuring smooth operations, and maintaining effective communication with stakeholders at the premises. 

Responsibilities
  • Support the Senior Manager Terminal Performance in obtaining Berthing windows with the Terminal and monitor operations versus prospects.
  • In coordination with Local Marine Operation liaises with the terminal operator to ensure the most optimal berth lineup for incoming vessels and proactively monitor ETA and ETC progress.
  • In coordination with Local Marine Operation and/or Network Execution ensures the reduction to the maximum (ideally to 0 hrs.) of waiting time outside for incoming vessels.
  • Identifies opportunities for cost reduction and cost control.
  • Supports performance management and contract negotiations with vendors, evaluating that all established requirements are met.
  • Supports and promotes new business processes for smoother workflows.
  • Uses Portchain Connect for aligning berth windows with those Terminals that are connected.
  • Responsible for timely maintenance of Terminal information in Ankeri for locations within scope, where no Terminal Performance Manager exists.
  • Ensures accuracy and timeliness of updates to ensure the Terminal has the latest most up-to-date information.
  • Acts as Portchain super-user. Responsible for high usage levels and onboarding of new Terminals. Works closely with Portchain Team to ensure the success of the project.
  • Supervises and supports Cost Control staff in verifying and analyzing stevedoring, terminal, and port service invoices for accuracy.
  • Support the handling of dangerous goods (DG) containers with special requirements, such as Class 1 and 7, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and regulations.  
  • Support Cargo Operation on handling of damaged containers during the load and discharge process, coordinating with relevant teams and stakeholders to ensure proper handling and documentation.  
  • Support and monitor and report on leaking containers and ship damage, taking necessary actions to address safety concerns and mitigate risks.  
  • Arrange local port formalities, ensuring compliance with port regulations and facilitating smooth operations for vessels.  
  • Represent the company within the port community, maintaining positive relationships with port authorities, pilot stations, and other relevant entities.  
  • Facilitate commercial and company visits to terminals and Hapag vessels, coordinating schedules, providing necessary information, and ensuring a smooth visitor experience.  
  • Perform data maintenance in PortChain and other port community systems, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Uses Portchain Connect for aligning berth windows to those Terminals that are connected.
  • Assist the regional berth planning manager for timely maintenance of Terminal information in Ankeri for locations within scope, where no Terminal Performance Manager exists.
  • Ensures accuracy and timeliness of updates to ensure the Terminal has the latest most up-to-date information.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in marine studies, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field, or experience as a Nautical Officer. 
  • Proven experience in port and terminal management, with a focus on berth planning, port operations, and hub management.
  • Strong knowledge of port operations, vessel scheduling, and terminal activities.
  • Strategic mindset and the ability to develop and implement effective plans and initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to drive operational improvements.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards in port and terminal operations.
  • Familiarity with port and terminal management software and tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in marine studies, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field, or experience as a Nautical Officer
